What to Wear To a Working Rally
Pony Club members should be neatly turned out and to wear correct protective clothing whenever they are mounted.

Headgear needs to be to the current recommended standard and will need to be ‘tagged’ at your first Pony Club rally or if you have a new hat. This is so instructors can see your hat meets the required standard without you taking it off! You can find the current standards here:

Hair  Girls (or boys!) with anything other than a short hair should wear their hair tied neatly in a net.

Clothing When mounted at Pony Club activities, ideally members should wear a branch polo shirt and sweatshirt with beige jodhpurs or breeches. In cold or wet weather a suitable coat/waterproofs are recommended. We understand that when you are a new member you may not have all of the above, so as long as you are safe and comfortable we are happy. Some items may be available to purchase second-hand (as members grow quickly!) so ask around the branch.

Body Protectors The wearing of body protectors is not compulsory except for cross-country, but is recommended for show-jumping.  Body protectors must have the purple BETA 2009 label or the turquoise BETA 2018 label . The purple BETA 2000 label is now obsolete.

Jewellery The only jewellery allowed is a watch, stock pin worn horizontally or a tie clip.  If you have any piercings these must be removed before mounting.

Tack  Doesn’t need to be new, but should fit your pony, be clean and supple with no loose stitching. Your instructor will check your tack at the start of the rally.

Ponies/Horses Ponies are expected to be properly groomed and well tuned out at Pony Club.

If you are unsure about any tack or equipment, your DC, instructor or rally organiser are there to help and advise.

Information regarding rallies and upcoming events will be on this website, and on the branch Facebook page: “Carmarthen Bay Pony Club Members only”, this page is strictly for current members and their immediate family. We also have an open page ‘Carmarthen Bay Pony Club’ for members of other branches and potential new members to see what we are about. The open page also publicises our open events and competitions.
