What should I wear at a rally?
When mounted at rallies members should wear:
Horses tack:
All tack must be clean, in a good state of repair, properly fitted and suitable for purpose
Stirrups must have 7mm clearance on either side of the boot
Humane girths are not permitted (A humane girth has non-independent straps that will loosen if one strap was to break)
What do I wear at a competition?
There are lots of things to think about before going to a competition and it can be daunting but don’t worry we are here to help.
There are many different competitions and they each have their own rules this is something you should have a look at before going. You will need to be sure that your clothes and you ponies tack are correct for the competition you are doing, the rules for each discipline are on The Pony Club web site but you can always ask your instructor, the team trainer or any one from the branch for help.
What to wear for show jumping or dressage:
Spurs (If you want to wear spurs you must have your C+ or your spur test) – Hat tag must be worn after completion of your spur test.
Whip (If Jumping must be a baton not to exceed 70cm, Dressage whips must not exceed 102cm) – please check details for your competition as rules can vary and you may not be eligible to carry one.
Don’t forget the most important thing is to have fun but looking the part will make you and your pony feel amazing so you can ride the best you can.
