At Crawley and Horsham we have 3 camps each year, MINI, JUNIOR and SENIOR.

MINI CAMP

For those from the age of 2 1/2 – 8 years

ARRIVAL INFORMATION

Equipment List:

Children and Ponies must be smartly turned out.

Rider:

HAT to standard PAS 015:1998 or 2011 with BSI Kitemark, VG1 with BSI Kitemark, Snell 2001 onwards with official snell label and number, ASTM-F1163 2004A onwards with SEI mark, AS/NZS 3838 2006 onwards and tagged.

PLEASE NOTE THAT HATS ARE CHECKED AND TAGGED ON ARRIVAL AND IF NOT TO THE ABOVE STANDARD YOUR CHILD MAY NOT BE ABLE TO RIDE.

Body Protector 2009 or newer – ALSO CHECKED ON ARRIVAL

Named Pony Club Sweatshirt, Long-sleeved shirt and named pony club tie.

Beige Jodhpurs (and a spare pair)

Dark hat silk

Jodhpur boots, can be worn with chaps if not, with jodhpur clips or long boots

Long hair tied back with a hair net

Waterproofs/ Wellies

Swimming costume, towel and sun cream (Swimming with parental supervision only from 2.45pm daily)

Packed Lunch and picnic blanket

JUNIOR CAMP

For all children who have just completed Yr 3 to members who have just completed Yr 6 at school

A Typical Day

A typical day involves preparing your pony for the day and meeting with your instructor. This will be followed by a ridden activity in both the morning and the afternoon. Each session is different, and will include flatwork, jumping, cross country, gymkhanas and hacking out in the beautiful countryside. Lunch will not be provided this year. On sunny days everyone has the opportunity for a swim in the beautiful outdoor pool. There will also be some free time and the chance to do some badges or watch a demonstration. Past years demonstrations have included side saddle and police dogs in action.

The last day of Junior Camp is normally competition day, with Combined Training and clear round or Cross Country.

SENIOR CAMP

For all members aged 12 and over.

Residential Camp

Senior camp is enormous fun and provides members with wide ranging training and the opportunity to be fully responsible (with supervision) for the care of their ponies. All ponies stay on site for the duration of camp.

Camp is fully residential with members either camping or staying in their lorries or trailers. All food is provided during the course of camp along with evening activities.

A typical day will comprise pony care, two ridden sessions including show jumping, cross country and flatwork and may also include some fun games and polo cross. A light lunch might be followed by a demonstration or talk and after dinner members can expect an entertaining evening activity such as unmounted games or a quiz! All in all there is lots of fun to be had.

The last day of camp is likely to be competition day where participants will be able to put into practice everything that they have learnt during the course of their stay.
