Welcome!
Like many other Pony Club branches, our branch is named after the Hunt pack whose country cover the area where our members live.
The Curre Hunt branch was founded in 1958. Former members include top international showjumpers Mary Broome and Liz Edgar, junior showjumping European team silver medallist James Winter, professional dressage rider Ellen Glover and eventer Alex Holman.
We are in Pony Club Area 10, which covers South Wales and the Borders and we regularly compete against other branches in the Area.
We are proud to be one of the friendliest branches around. Everyone, whatever their age or ability, is encouraged to join in and get the most out of everything Pony Club has to offer. Parents and guardians, we love you to get involved too and are always pleased to give help and advice.
What we do…
Our branch year is jam-packed with activities which include something for everyone, whether you are an ambitious competitive rider or simply want to have some fun whilst improving your riding and pony care skills.
Rallies
The most important regular activities are monthly rallies and training, which take place throughout the year and are open to all members, whatever their level. Most rallies involve coaching in small groups in riding and horse & pony care.
Besides rallies we organise a variety of other events including guided hacks at different locations around our beautiful part of South Wales or have-a-go days for a variety of different horsey activities from carriage driving to improving your riding position in the saddle of a mechanical horse!
Whatever activity you choose to take part in, we can guarantee it will involve LOTS OF FUN with your horse or pony alongside your FRIENDS.
Tests and badges
At the Curre you’ll have the chance to work towards the many Pony Club achievement badges linked to horses, lifestyle and the countryside. We’ll also help you to progress with your riding and care skills so you can work up through the highly-respected Pony Club tests.
Competitions and training
We have active training programmes in all the Pony Club sports shown in the link on the left of this page – Dressage, Show Jumping, Eventing, Tri & Tetrathlon, Endurance and Mounted Games. The best local coaches are involved with the branch and are there to help you to improve your technique and with competition preparation, whatever your level.
Competitions are organised in-branch for members of all abilities. We also support teams and individuals to compete successfully at inter-branch, Area and National level. Curre members regularly represent Wales in a number of Pony Club sports!
Non-mounted members can join in teams to contest the annual Quiz and Horse & Pony Care competitions.
Camp
Summer Camp is the highlight of the year for many of our members! Four or five days of non-stop riding, learning and laughter with your friends, with coaching in small groups tailored to suit your level. Seniors can also go to their own residential training camp along with teens from other branches in our area.
Why not come and join us!
