At the Curre we are keen to support all members who want to improve their riding skills and work on their horse or pony’s obedience and suppleness, whether or not they want to compete at Dressage.

Flat-work coaching is part of all our regular general rallies and riders are encouraged to have a go at test-riding if they want to.  For those at C Test level and above, dressage-specific training takes place monthly with our regular dressage coach, professional rider and trainer Ellen Glover who works for Carl Hester and Charlotte Dujardin and BD award-winning coach and international rider Levi Hunt.  Private or shared instruction is available.

The Curre is very proud of its growing reputation in Dressage!  In recent years members have qualified at the Area competition to represent the branch successfully at Pony Club National Championships at Novice, Intermediate and Open levels and the grassroots Regional Championships.  A number of riders have also reach Area and National finals for the Spring Festival Championships and been selected to represent Wales in the Pony Club Home International dressage at the Royal Windsor Horse Show.

Branch level

Dressage classes at all levels are included in many shows organised by PC branches in our region.  We try to keep members informed about dates and venues both within and outside Pony Club where they can get test practice.

Spring Festival Dressage

A competition for Pony Club members with classes at PC Novice, Intermediate and Open levels.  Qualification classes are held at numerous venues around our Area and region from late summer onwards, where you can aim to reach the Area Final and even the Dengie National Championships held in April each year.

Summer Area Competition

The Area Dressage competition is held in June or July.  Teams from branches in Area 10 compete for coveted qualifying places at the Pony Club Regional Championships (PC70 & PC Grassroots levels) or Pony Club National Championships (PC Novice, Intermediate & Open levels), both in August.

Dressage to Music

Want to dance with your pony?  Pony Club also offers the chance to compete at Dressage to Music, at both the Spring Festival and National Championships.  Talk to the CHPC Dressage head about help we can give you in putting together a DTM routine.

Nmaesressage to Music – a follow up session is planned – date to be confirmed.
Note: all dressage to music tests will run on a long arena (60 x 20m) so we plan to hold the next session at Cledd y tan, Kilgwrrwg, Devauden
