Information:  The Pony Club Quiz is a mixed age team event run every year.  This event is the Area level qualifier, for Branch and Centre teams. The quiz is a fantastic way to bring club members together across the age ranges, and have fun swotting up on all things horsey. It’s also good prep for efficiency tests! Each Club can enter as many teams as they like.

This year the Area Quiz will again be run as per the National Quiz (but the majority of the rounds will be shortened) with the questions set by Val Milne. Answers in all rounds will be written, except for some elements of the practical round.   Not necessarily in this order, the rounds will be:

  1.  The Pony Club
    2. Know your aids and handling
    3. Digestive System
    4. World Equestrian Games
    5. Equine Behaviour
    6. Working Dogs
    7. Around the UK – Scotland
    8. Practical Round – Feeding
    9. Pairs Round – Tack
    10. Picture Round – Poisonous Plants

Teams of four are of mixed ages and should be made up of:

• 1 Member 12 years & under
• 1 Member 14 years & under
• 1 Member 16 years & under
• 1 Member of any age

N.B. A Team may consist of four Members under the age of 12 if you wish. In this instance, the Team will be asked to nominate which Member will answer the more advanced question. All ages will be taken from the 1st January 2019

The winning team will be the one with the highest number of points.  In case of equality, total points gained in The Pony Club round will be used first to decide the final placings.

POINTS: For the final there will be 30 points available for each round (15 questions per round), therefore 2 points per correct question except the pairs round – 8 questions per pair totalling 32 points for the round, and the individual round which will be a point per item identified, two Juniors 10 points each, two Seniors 15 point each, totalling 50 points for the round.
