Camp information 2020

Mini camp will be at Eastwood again this year.  The dates are 27th and 28th July 2020.  This is for children 8 years and below.  Children do not stay overnight but the ponies can by arrangement nearer the time.

This year we have made a few changes to the camp structure.  There will not be a separate junior/senior camp, instead we have booked two different venues to try and accommodate all the childrens’ growing needs and abilities.

Coxleigh Barton, Barnstaple Camp 6th-8th August 2020

We have booked 4 instructors and each group will stay with their instructor throughout the camp.  There will be a fun competition on the last day of camp and parents can come and watch this.

Coxleigh has made some significant improvement to their stabling this year by building a whole new stable block.  This means all the children and ponies will be together on the top yard.

Coxleigh facilities include two all weather arenas and a training cross country course with fences up to 85/90cm.  This camp is suitable for children that are not out competing on a regular basis but want to improve their riding and horse management knowledge in a fun environment with great facilities.

Stockland Lovell, Bridgewater 10th-13th August 2020

So we can group children appropriately this camp is open to children jumping a course of fences at 80cm and above confidently.  Children will arrive at 5pm on the 10th August ready for three days of instruction using all the facilities at Stockland Lovell.  Facilities include dressage areas, 2 x all weather arenas and a full cross country course with various fences at different heights including water complexes, ditches, sunken roads and steps.

It is the upmost importance that children enjoy their camp experience so if you are not sure which camp is best suited for your child please email me and I will discuss with Sara our Chief Instructor.  Sara will be teaching at both these camps.

Deposits for camp will be added to the members booking page shortly.

Area Competitions

Area competition dates are as follows:-

  • Mounted games date to be confirmed
  • Dressage venue to be confirmed 14/06/20
  • Tetrathlon at Southcott 27/28 June 20
  • Eventing 12/07/20 Pontispool (eventing is all three disciplines in one day, dressage, showjumping and cross country) .
  • Show jumping at Chard 19/07/20

There are different levels that children can compete at see below:-

  • Regional level 80-85cm SJ and Eventing. The dressage test details are attached for information.  All tests can be downloaded from the pony club website.
  • Novice 90/95cm SJ and XC
  • Intermediate 1 metre – 1.10 SJ and XC

Our instructors will decide on the best level your child should compete at, as once they move up through the levels they cannot go back down even if you have a different pony.  The instructors will also put together the area teams.  Area jumping events are always up to height.

Please can you reply to this email to let me know what area events your child would like to compete at this year, so we can start to pull together details.  Once we have an idea of who wants to be considered for area events I will add the information to the booking page, where you will have to book your child in and pay the entry fee in due course.  If we don’t hear from you we will assume that your child doesn’t want to be considered for these teams.

We are in the process of arranging flatwork rallies to prepare for the dressage and will start weekly Friday night rallies at the beginning of May. These will be added to the members booking page also.
