{"id":1119,"date":"2024-03-16T19:22:00","date_gmt":"2024-03-16T19:22:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/branches.pcuk.org\/eglinton\/?page_id=1119"},"modified":"2024-09-07T18:14:37","modified_gmt":"2024-09-07T17:14:37","slug":"health-and-safety","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/branches.pcuk.org\/eglinton\/club-information\/health-and-safety\/","title":{"rendered":"Health and Safety"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n\r\n<section class=\"full-width-text py-5\">\r\n    <div class=\"container\">\r\n        <div class=\"row\">\r\n            <div class=\"col-lg-10 mx-auto\">\r\n                <p>Health and Safety is Eglinton&#8217;s top priority and everyone&#8217;s responsibility, to ensure\u00a0 our ponies, riders and all the supportive entourage is safe at all times<\/p>\n<p>.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Guidance for ALL mounted activities<\/strong><strong>\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Please be ready at the\u00a0<strong>start\u00a0<\/strong>times for activities \u2013 leave plenty of time to get mounted.<\/li>\n<li>All members must only\u00a0<strong>walk<\/strong> their ponies until they reach their instructor. All members are the responsibility of their parent, until they reach their instructor, unless over 18.<\/li>\n<li>If for any reason a parent has to leave a member (under 18) at a pony club activity, they <strong>MUST<\/strong> ask another adult (not the instructor!) to be guardian. The Activity Organiser and the instructor <strong>MUST<\/strong> be informed who is guardian<\/li>\n<li>At rallies members aged 4 and under must be led by their parent at all times, those aged 5 must have their instructor\u2019s permission to come off the lead rein.<\/li>\n<li>Horses \/ ponies\u00a0<strong>MUST NOT<\/strong>\u00a0be left tided to trailers \/ lorries unaccompanied<\/li>\n<li>Parking areas\u00a0<strong>MUST\u00a0<\/strong>be left clean and tidy \u2013 no skipping out or piles of poo or hay to be left. If you are last to leave, please check on behalf of others<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4 class=\"content active\"><strong>Gentle Reminder for Parents<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>All of our instructors are trained to a high standard and are carefully selected to provide quality lessons for our members, if you have feedback please ensure that is directed to the discipline coordinator, please be mindful of the impact and delivery of feedback and ensure it maintains, at all times, the values of Pony Club.\u00a0 If in doubt contact our DC, we encourage complaints\/concerns to be raised directly.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"content active\"><strong>Uniform<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>New clothing and tack is not expected, but what is worn, must be clean, neat and tidy.\u00a0 Instructors will have a quick check of riders and ponies at the beginning of rallies to ensure that the dress code is met and that tack is safe \u2013 please do not be offended if instructors mention any concerns they may have, the health and safety of our members and their ponies is paramount.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>RIDER DRESS CODE<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Beige or navy jodhpurs<\/li>\n<li>Pony Club sweatshirt, base layer or jacket<\/li>\n<li>White shirt and Pony Club tie or stock, OR white\/navy collared top \u2013 Long sleeves are compulsory.<\/li>\n<li>Pony Club badge<\/li>\n<li>Boots\u00a0\u2013\u00a0Only standard riding or jodhpur boots with a fairly smooth, thin sole and a well defined square cut heel may be worn. Plain black or brown half chaps may be worn with jodhpur boots of the same colour. Tassels and fringes are not allowed. No other footwear will be permitted, including wellington boots, \u201cmuckers\u201d or trainers. Boots with interlocking treads are not permitted, nor are the boots or treads individually.<\/li>\n<li>Hairnet\u00a0should be worn by those with long hair<\/li>\n<li>Gloves, preferably black<\/li>\n<li>No jewellery\u00a0is allowed other than a wristwatch, a wedding ring, a stock pin worn horizontally or a tie clip. Earings must me taped.<\/li>\n<li>No hoodies or hoods\u00a0on jackets<\/li>\n<li>Stick length\u00a0\u2013\u00a0 see event organiser as this varies depending on discipline<\/li>\n<li>Hats\u00a0should be to current standard, and should be tagged to confirm this \u2013 see Event Organiser\u00a0at start\u00a0of session. Tagging of hat confirms that it meets current standard \u2013 NO check of fit is confirmed or implied.\u00a0 For current hat standard see\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/pcuk.org\/media\/3t2nxfnb\/hat-rule-2020.pdf\">Pony Club Hat Rules\u00a0<\/a>. No hats with fixed peaks are allowed for Cross Country Training<\/li>\n<li>Body Protectors \u2013\u00a0The Pony Club does not make the use of body protectors compulsory, except for all Cross Country riding and Pony Racing training and competing.\u00a0 Body Protectors used for Cross Country and Pony Racing must meet BETA 2009 Level 3 standard (purple label).\u00a0 For general use, the responsibility for choosing body protectors and the decision as to their use must rest with Members and their parents. It is recommended that a rider\u2019s body protector should not be more than 2% of their body weight. When worn, body protectors must fit correctly, be comfortable and must not restrict movement. Riders who choose to use the Woof Wear Body Cage EXO must lodge a key with the Event Organiser or instructor at the start of the session.<\/li>\n<li>Medical Armbands are compulsory members with a medical condition that may impact on their care in case of emergency or for anyone participating in Pony Racing or Endurance riding<strong style=\"font-size: calc(1.275rem + 0.3vw);background-color: var(--bs-body-bg);color: var(--bs-body-color);font-family: var(--bs-body-font-family);text-align: var(--bs-body-text-align)\">Tack<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"singlecolrte\">\n<div class=\"container\">\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-md-10 offset-md-1\">\n<div class=\"usercontent\">\n<p>All tack must be clean, in a good state of repair, properly fitted and suitable for purpose. Tack inspections are routinely carried out at events and the organisers may prohibit participation in the event if they consider the tack to be inadequate or unsuitable. Individual sports do have further specific tack rules which are detailed in their individual sports rulebooks.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>No coloured rubber reigns or tack<\/li>\n<li>Stirrups\u00a0should be of the correct size to suit the rider\u2019s boots.\u00a0 They must have 7mm (\u00bc\u201d) clearance on either side of the boot.\u00a0Note\u00a0\u2013 Stirrups which connect the boot and the stirrup magnetically \/ interlocking boot soles and stirrup treads\u00a0are not allowed.<\/li>\n<li>Saddle cloths should be plain in either black, white, brown or navy blue, but may carry the Eglinton Pony Club logo.<\/li>\n<li>Grass reins\u00a0are permitted at Pony Club rallies and competitions jumping up to 50cm or Walk and Trot Tests.\u00a0 They must be fitted to allow and not restrict the normal head position of the pony.\u00a0 The rein length must be sufficient to allow the pony to stretch over a small fence.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/branches.pcuk.org\/eglinton\/rallies\/rally-information\/daisyreins\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4607\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-4607\" src=\"https:\/\/branches.pcuk.org\/eglinton\/files\/2021\/04\/daisyreins-300x192.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"192\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n                                                                <\/div>\r\n        <\/div>\r\n    <\/div>\r\n<\/section>\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p> [&#8230;]<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"btn btn-secondary understrap-read-more-link\" href=\"https:\/\/branches.pcuk.org\/eglinton\/club-information\/health-and-safety\/\">Read More&#8230;<span class=\"screen-reader-text\"> from Health and Safety<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":103,"featured_media":0,"parent":1139,"menu_order":1,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"class_list":["post-1119","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.8 -
