Horses and ponies should always be clean, well groomed, trimmed and shod appropriately and in good health. All tack should be clean, supple and well fitted. White, brown or black saddlepads are allowed.
HATS must comply with the latest Pony Club rules, which can be found here: on this link. Whenever mounted hats must be worn at all times, with chin straps securely fastened. Hat covers should be black, dark navy or brown with no pom poms.
BODY PROTECTORS must comply with the latest Pony Club rules, which can be found here: on this link. Body Protectors must be worn when riding cross country.
EARRINGS/PIERCINGS are not allowed at any rally, camp or competition; regardless of tapes, plasters or anything else and riders will have to remove them before riding.
SIDE REINS, GRASS REINS AND BALANCE SUPPORT REINS are permitted to be used at rallies and general Pony Club activities. Side reins must be loosely fitted and clipped on from the bit to the ‘d’ ring. The height limit for jumping whilst using these reins is 50cms.
Safe suitable footwear should be worn, and bring your hat and gloves.
Turnout rules vary according to the discipline so please check the relevant rulebook or, if in doubt, ask a member of the Committee. When competing, the Pony Club badge must be worn on the left lapel of your show jacket with test felt (if any) underneath. Eridge white saddlepads (available to purchase from Branch Secretary) should be used.
Plaiting: When representing the Branch in any dressage, show jumping or eventing competitions, horses must be plaited.
