EHNPC – 1 Week, 158 Members and Families, We Can Walk 1500 Miles!
The Challenge is now finished but there’s still time to send your Fundraising Badge things in!
WHAT IS THIS 1500 MILE CHALLENGE?
We know how active our brilliant members are so we wondered if we as group would cover 1500 miles in one week or maybe even more? There is a fundraising element to the challenge so you CAN donate if you would like to but this is ENTIRELY OPTIONAL. More information on this below.
WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO?
You can walk, skip, shuffle, jog, run or cycle in order to help our club cover 1500 miles in 1 week. (Sadly we can’t encourage you to ride due to the BEF advice)
This is a challenge for the whole family, everyone in your household is welcome to take part and build up the miles. (You can include poo picking, walking dogs or mowing the lawn, even walking up and down the stairs!)
WHEN DOES WEEK 1 START?
It starts this Monday 27th April 2020 and ending Sunday 3rd May 2020.
HOW DO WE LOG OUR MILES?
So we can see how far we have all travelled you will need a GPS App. We have set up a Club on STRAVA for you to join. This way you can see who is covering how many miles and how close we are getting to our total. In order to join our club you need to:
1. Download the FREE Strava app.
2. Once you have signed up go to ‘Clubs’ and request to join ‘EHNPC 1500 Miles’
3. Once approved start ‘moving’ on Monday morning and keep logging those miles.
4. Our club is set up as a ‘Running’ club. This means whatever activity you are doing (Walk, Cycle etc) you must set the ACTIVITY as ‘RUN’ in order to log CLUB miles. This is a Strava shortfall! If you forget you can edit your activity or speak to Georgie 07740858588!
In order to keep you safer on Strava – set a privacy zone around your home, that way no one can see where you live, if you are starting or finishing activities at your home address.
Go to ‘PROFILE’ then click on the ‘SETTINGS’ wheel at the top right corner.
Next ‘PRIVACY CONTROLS’ and select ‘PRIVACY ZONE’ option.
Select the ‘ADD’ button in the top right hand corner.
Enter address and select the size of the privacy radius; Click ‘SAVE’
I WOULD LIKE TO HELP WITH FUNDRAISING, WHAT DO I DO?
Haven House at Woodford Green, is a children’s hospice that is desperately in need of funds to keep offering their wonderful service to those who sadly need it. Many charities are really struggling at the moment as vital fund raising events such as the London Marathon are cancelled. If you would like to donate or ask family members or friends to sponsor you miles, please do.
Please go here if you would like to donate.

AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST, THE PONY CLUB FUNDRAISING BADGE
By taking part members can also earn their Fundraising Achievement Badge. To do so members will need to do the following:
1. Design a poster advertising the 500 Mile Challenge. You might like to take a photo of this and add it to facebook/instagram or whatsapp it to friends and family members to let them know what you’re up to.
2. Make a sponsorship form and get some sponsorship. People can sponsor you per mile or just for taking part and all sponsorship, no matter how big or small, counts and is much appreciated!
3. Join in the 1500 mile challenge and send a photo/video of you doing so to Oriel Gordon via WhatsApp – 07973 115193
4. Write a letter to the charity, Haven House, telling them about your contribution to our 1500 Mile Challenge. You could add a drawing to your letter if you’d like too! Your letter will then be added to a card/book which i will then send to Haven House.
Once completed, you’ll need to send pictures of your poster and sponsorship form to Sarah at essexhuntnorth@pcuk.org Once received, I will email you my address so you can post your Haven House letters to me. I will then collate them into something lovely to send to Haven House!
If you have any questions about the badge please contact Sarah.
And please remember: HAVE FUN AND STAY SAFE
