Big Camp 2024 is coming!
Julie Tier and Anita Steel are busy planning for another fun week for invited members 11years and over. Please note eligible children will be invited by email. If you think your child is eligible and have not received an email please let Julie or Anita know (see Contacts Page)
Many thanks to Sam Harty taking over the catering from Cathyrn Tinker and Rachel Griffin is running the Stables for another year.
E&S Big Camp is a residential camp for your son or daughter to have an enjoyable, informative and learning week, with their pony, and we hope your child will join us this year.
Big Camp will reside at Overbury Hall, Layham, by kind permission of Nick and Liz Reid from Sunday 28th July to Friday 2nd August. Nick and Liz have actively supported the pony club for many years and have offered their beautiful home and grounds for Essex and Suffolk Pony Club, for which we are very grateful. The children will have access to tennis court and swimming pool, along with various elements of cross country, showjumping and flatwork/dressage.
Accommodation for the children will need to be arranged by you in horse boxes, caravans or tents. This works best if you can team up with other families to share facilities – please let us know if you need any help and we will help put children together.
Included in the cost of Big Camp is all the instruction, stabling, entertainment, showers, most food, supervision and bedding.
We do ask for help from parents in the catering department. Sam will liaise with parents nearer the time regarding provisions and help.
Please be aware that no NEW kit is required to come to camp so long as it’s in good repair. Rachel will provide a full list of equipment required, along with details on pony fitness and feeding requirements.
Your child must be a fully paid up member of Pony Club and have attended 3 rallies or clinics in 2024 before camp. In addition, as the children will be crossing the road to access fields for flatwork and showjumping, they must have attained their D Test and Mini Riding & Road Safety badge. Priority will be given to active PC Members and places are offered at the discretion of the Committee.
