Junior International and Regional Tetrathlon Championships
Junior International and Regional Tetrathlon Championships
Another great weekend away for our Junior Tetratheletes who have worked hard in their discipline and rewarded with selection for the East of England Teams. Tetrathlon is known for its ability to party and the Junior Regional was no exception. This year’s them was Musicals and after much deliberation, Spice Girls The Musical was chosen.
Annie, Matthew and Alfie made their way to Moreton Morrell College, Warkwickshire on Friday and set up camp and stables. Teams were allocated; Annie formed part of Eastern ‘Posh’ Girls, Matthew part of Eastern ‘Scary’ Boys and Alfie, Eastern ‘Sporty’ Boys.
The shoot phase took place at the College in their indoor school. A resounding 920 was scored by all three E&S members, which also resulted in them =15th in their sections! The swom took place at the Leisure Centre at Leamington Spa with some great performances and personal best results recorded. The final phase for the first day is the Tetrathlon Party with each region hoping to win the esteemed prize of Best Performance. Hopefully the video will show the East performance, with a brilliant 2nd place won!!!
The Ride phase is a serious championship cross country course with many technical combinations with alternative ‘L’ fences if required with penalties. The girls rode first with Annie completing the course in good time. The Boys completed their Run and then their Ride. This was Matthew and Alfie’s first Regional Tet and they both attacked the course with great resolution. Annie and the girls completed their Run whilst the boys were riding. Overall, only 14.7% of the Girls scored and 13% of the Boys scored the full 1,400 Ride points.
Final individual results, Annie 53rd Regional Girl, Alfie 53rd and Matthew 34th Regional Boys. A brilliant performance by them all.
Teams; Eastern Posh Girls with Annie 15th, Eastern Sporty Boys with Alfie 11th, Eastern Scary Boys with Matthew 3rd.
The Championships also hosts an International competition between England, Northen Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Ireland, with team selection from the best of each country. Lottie Hood from North Norfolk and Oscar Pickering from Quorn were selected for the England teams and this year, England were victorious in the Girls section and were 2nd in the Boys.
Well done to the Essex and Suffolkers and to the East of Englanders! Many thanks to the UK Tetrathlon Committee, Area 8 Tet, and all the volunteers who make these events happen.
