The Essex and Suffolk Hunt Branch was established in 1939 and is part of Pony Club Area 8. We are a thriving Pony Club with around 120 members, aged between 5 and 21, who come from a large area covering the Tendring Peninsula, the Colchester area and South Suffolk.
Our aim is for members to have fun, make new friends, improve riding skills and horsecare and have the opportunity to take part in teams and competitions.
We provide a full programme of activities for all abilities throughout the year including:Mounted and dismounted ralliesSpecialised training clinicsSocial events Competitions
One of the highlights in our calendar is Summer Camp which we hold for three age groups:
– Minnows Camp for 5 and 6 year olds
– Minicamp for 7-10 year olds
– Senior Camp for the over 11s.
All members are encouraged to aim for the various Pony Club tests and badges, as well as our very successful Inter-Branch and Area Teams.
Our Branch has strong links with hunting and our local Hunt, the Essex & Suffolk Foxhounds, organises several children’s meets each season where members are welcomed.
Each year we run several competitions for all abilities, in disciplines such as showing, showjumping, hunter trials, one day events, dressage, combined training, tetrathlon and Prince Philip Cup friendlies.
Our branch is run by a Committee of members’ parents and we are entirely dependent on volunteers, so your support is needed for the successful running of the Club.
