As well as Branch and Inter Branch competitions across the different disciplines of riding, the Pony Club holds competitions at Area, Regional and National levels with the main Pony Club National Championships being held once a year incorporating all qualified members from all over the UK.
Area Competitions are run for Pony Club branches within a specific Area across a range of disciplines from dressage to tetrathlon, eventing, endurance, Polocrosse and mounted games. Essex and Suffolk are within Area 8. To see what Areas there are click here. Area SJ and Eventing Competitions start at 90cm up to 110cm. These are qualifiers for the JCB Pony Club National Championships. You can compete as a team or an Individual.
Regional Competitions incorporate the Grassroots Dressage and 70cm and 80cm show jumping and eventing classes with a number of Areas competing in the Regional Championships.
The Barrier Health Spring Festival sees Area members compete to qualify in dressage, showjumping and arena eventing from Grassroots to Open levels for the Spring Festival National Championships.
Other special competitions also take place over the year:
– The Gosling Cup: a special competition incorporating tack and turnout, team dressage, individual dressage, showjumping and cross country phases for teams and individuals from invited PC branches in Area 8.
– The Bloom Cup: an eventing competition for teams and individuals from invited PC branches in Area 8.
– The Brantham Cup – a Essex and Suffolk PC Branch only showjumping competition.
– The Shelley Show – a fun show open to all members of the Pony Club, with showjumping, showing classes and handy pony classes, usually end at the end of May.
We also run an annual open Hunter Trial in October which is open to anyone, and a junior tetrathlon in August and a junior One Day Event in August which are both open to all members of the Pony Club.
Non ridden Competitions such as the Pony Club Quiz, Horse Care and Art competition also take place annually.
