Triathlon success for Sonny and Tallulah

Tallulah, poor little mite, had to run first of all in 5° and horizontal rain and got an amazing PB BUT then had to shoot with freezing cold, shaky hands AND then her gun malfunctioned (and she only had Grandma for help ), her swim was fab and finished 4th and team 1st.

Sonny (the reason we travelled far and wide for a qualifier), shot well (for third place). Next was swimming (their class should only swim for 2 mins) they followed a junior class (who swims for 3 minutes) and the the starter didn’t change her timings, so their class swam 3 minutes! At two minutes he was leading and at three minutes he was third, so, he had to run like his life depended on it, and he did…he was fan-blinking-tastic and got first place with ‘Best Run’! Gaining him a second place, a medal and qualification to the champs, whoop whoop! And team 1st.

The icing on the cake was that Charlie Brown, a 21 year old Paris 2024 Olympian in the Modern Pentathlon was ‘giving back’ to his Pony Club Area Triathlon Qualifer with his Mum (who gave invaluable advice at the running start for both children), Dad and Grandma (who commented on Sonny’s ‘wonderful’ run to me) and they all made time for Sonny and Tallulah to ask hundreds of questions and have a photo with him, he even gave Sonny his phone number so Sonny can stay in contact with him for help/advice or to answer any question. Sonny was absolutely blown away!

They are both looking forward to the Newmarket & Thurlow triathlon in March see their E&S friends!
