Regional SJ, Eventing and Dressage Championships 2024 at Aston Le Walls

On the last weekend of August 2024 12 of our members who had qualified for the Regional Championships travelled to Aston Le Walls to compete. It was a first for Aston le Walls hosting the Pony Club Regional Championships – the venue did not disappoint however the weather did!

On Saturday majority of the day was rain, but this did not dampen our spirts.
We started off with our Showjumping team of Lucy Parr, Emilia Ward, Jemma Caley and Antonia Gorbitz. A few lovely clear rounds, with Antonia getting through to the Jump off with Torn. With Jemma’s pony still out of action we were able to substitute her ride, and she borrowed her brother’s horse to be able to come and join the team. A great result getting placed team 10th.

Our 70 Dressage team became two individuals due to Poppy Anley withdrawal due to an operation (we wish her a speedy recovery), Antonia Gorbitz and Jemima Rutland both did pleasing tests in unforgiving weather conditions. Antonia being placed 8th in her arena and Jemima being placed 6th.

Our 80 Dressage team also became two individuals with losing Ameila Anley. Two lovely tests for Annabel Bardrick and Grace Hotham sadly out of the ribbons but lots to take away from the tests.

We had the two Charlies as individuals for our 80 Showjumping of Charlie Parr and Charlie Rutland who both jumped double clear to get into the jump off. With a very competitive jump off section both Charlies went against the clock both securing a clear round and Charlie Parr getting a podium position of 2nd.

Sunday thankfully better weather, well dry at least and slightly windy. We started the day with our Eventing 70 Individual Tatiania Hotham, who did incredibly wel finishing on her dressage score over a technical full up 70 cross country course to secure a 6th individually.
We also had our 80 Eventing Team of 3 of Harry Tier, Olivia Pallister and Grace Hotham unfortunately leaving us with no drop score. Some lovely Dressage Tests, Showjumping Rounds and Cross-country rounds in windy conditions. No team placings on this occasion however Grace finished podium position of 2nd in her arena and Harry 8th in his arena.
A big thank you to all the parents for bringing the children, they were all smartly turned out polite and true representatives of our branch.

Many thanks to Nicki Bennett for the report and to her and Mary for their unwavering support of our members at these events
