SPRING BARRIER SHOW JUMPING QUALIFIER – 31/01/2026

What a brilliant (and very early!) Saturday we had as nine of our members headed to Forest Edge for the Spring Barrier Showjumping Qualifier, wonderfully hosted by West Norfolk Branch.
With the Forest Edge satnav lottery sending many of us on mystery tours, everyone still arrived brighteyed and ready for action!
In the 70cm classes we had 2 teams entered:
The Essex & Suffolk Orange team of
Jemima Rutland, EmmyRae, and Daisy Cave.
Webster came out for a little adventure with EmmyRae, who was very unlucky for 4 faults. Jemima and Daisy both rode super stylish clears, helping the team secure a fantastic 3rd place podium finish—complete with lovely goody bags!
The Essex & Suffolk Green Team was entered as Sonny Northover Dodd, Tallulah Northover Dodd, and Annabel Quinn but sadly Annabel had to withdraw midweek due to injury—we all wish her a speedy recovery ❤️
With no mixed teams on the day, Sonny and Tallulah took on the challenge as individuals, and both delivered lovely clear rounds! A great result for the brother and sister duo.
In the 80cm classes we had the
Essex & Suffolk Blue Team of
Jemima Rutland, Hallie Milton, and EmmyRae (on Little Miss Grey)
Hallie rode a cracking clear on the very handsome Haribo. EmmyRae and Little Miss Grey had a couple of cheeky poles, and Hollywood Dante Blavange rolled the final fence. No team placings this time, but lots of great riding all round!
A special shoutout to Daisy Cave, who stepped up to her brother’s old horse Castletown King and produced a beautiful clear as an individual—well done Daisy!
In the 90cm class the Essex & Suffolk Red Team had a quick reshuffle after
Sophie Feeney’s pony Skye was not feeling quite right and she understandably withdrew, sending them both well wishes so Hallie & Haribo joined Harry Tier and Zac Cave to make up the 90cm team.
No team placings today, but a seriously speedy round from Zac secured him a podium finish and a well earned ticket to the Championships! 🏆
It was great to see a strong team entering the 100cm classes with:
Molly Nichols & Summer, Harry Tier, and Zac Cave making up the Essex and Suffolk Yellow Team.
The course was big, bold, and up to height—but the team rode it with style and determination. Great effort from all.
110cm Windsor Qualifier
Rounding off the day, Molly represented the branch beautifully in the 110 qualifier for Windsor. She rode a brilliant round and secured her place in a very competitive jumpoff—no placing this time, but a wonderful achievement.
A gorgeous venue, a very long day, a few hiccups (sorry Kelly—flat tyres are never fun!), and the warmest hospitality from parents—thank you for the hot chocolate and marshmallows; they were lifesavers!
Thank you to all the riders and families for representing the branch with such enthusiasm, teamwork, and brilliant sportsmanship. We loved watching every minute and hope to see you all at future qualifiers.
