Our main competition focus is on dressage, showjumping, eventing and tri- and tetrathlon, for which we run regular training, but members have the chance to try other disciplines and activities at rallies and days organised by other Pony Clubs in the area.
Please have a look around this website to find out more about us. Visit our Contact Us page to get in touch with any questions you may have. We are a fun and friendly branch and look forward to welcoming you.
The Pony Club is a unique youth equestrian organisation, providing the opportunity to participate in nine different sports.
The Pony Club has been the starting point for a large majority of equestrian team members, equine professionals, and medal winners. Training is at the heart of The Pony Club, providing opportunities to build knowledge on improving equine welfare, rider safety and enabling members to develop lifelong skills, alongside riding, and have fun!
In order for us to organise and run our events we need an army of helpers on the day and sometimes in advance. The events are run as fundraisers to help keep down the cost of training and camps. If you are able to help, or have family and friends who may also be able to lend a hand, please get in touch with Sylvie to let her know which events you can help at and if you have any special skills which may be useful. For Fun, Friendship, Horsemanship and Sport
Each year the Fitzwilliam Branch can enter a team to show jump at Burghley Horse Trials, having a photograph jumping in front of Burghley House is an ambition for many. The nerves tend to be high as there is always a good crowd of spectators. Last year the team did the branch proud, riding brilliantly and coming 4th after a very tense jump off.
Rebecca Simpson will once again be in charge of choosing the Fitzwilliam Team to take part in the Show Jumping at Burghley 2024 and a series of training dates are now taking place. Although these training sessions are primarily to choose the team they are open to anyone jumping 90cm +
The Pony Club Championships are from 9 to 17 August at Offchurch and the Regional Championships are 24 to 26 August. Many members compete during the year with the aim to qualify at the Areas for the champs. It is such an honour to be part of a team and represent Area 6 and the Fitzwilliam.
This year you could compete in the following disciplines: Tetrathlon, Mounted Games, Polocross, Dressage, Eventing, Show Jumping and Horse and Pony Care.
We run three very popular Summer Camps – a fully residential for our Junior and intermediate members, our Mini members (aged 10 and under) are offered the choice of camping for 2 nights or attending daily but at this camp the ponies go home. These all offer a wide range of riding and stable management teaching as well as fun activities. Senior camp is run over two consecutive days of flatwork, XC and SJ training.
Area 6 runs a series of leagues sponsored by Cheval Liberte for dressage, triathlon, show jumping and eventing – it is a really good way to motivate children and parents to compete all season with the pony club, after each event you can look up how you are doing as an individual and how the branch is doing overall.
