A large Flamstead squad of riders braved the heat last Sunday to compete at the fantastic show that is the Area 12 Area and Regional qualifiers and Interbranch competition at Addington.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
As always the competition was testing, even for our most experienced combinations, but some fantastic rounds were jumped, qualifications gained and a lot of ice cream eaten!<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
It was an early start for our 40cm riders taking part in the Interbranch competition. A fabulous double clear for Charlotte was rewarded with 5th place and she matched it in the 50cm for another well deserved 5th place. A special mention to Holly and Rodger competing in the 50cm as their first Pony Club show, with a lovely clear round despite losing a stirrup half way round!<\/div>\n

Moving on to the 60cm and a fantastic team 3rd for our team of Ciara (individual 4th), Maddie, Kiera and Euan who all jumped beautifully around an up-to-height track.<\/div>\n

Meanwhile the 70 teams were kicking things off in the (rather spooky!) indoor arena. Flamstead had 3 fabulous teams at this height. Huge congratulations go to the team of Ciara, Lilly-May, Hugo and Jess who qualified for the Regional Championships in August, with Ciara taking individual 8th. Lovely double clears were also enough to qualify Jemima and Violet. Qualifying for Regional Champs is a great achievement and we look forward to seeing these combinations competing at Aston Le Walls in August.<\/div>\n

Outside things were getting rather hot (literally!) and it wasn\u2019t quite their day for our 80cm team of Sienna, Zoe and Frank. All sensibly decided to save their ponies for another day and not to jump round 2 in the heat.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The 90cm teams had started bright and early in the main International outdoor arena. Lovely clears for Amelie and Jemima and just 4 faults for Chloe put the team in a great spot going into a testing second round. A few faults to add across the board in round 2 put the team finishing in a respectable 8th place. Immediately following the 90cm, in the 1m Jess was Flamstead\u2019s sole representative and, although things didn\u2019t go quite to plan, she did well to finish both rounds.<\/div>\n

The final class at the end of a very long hot day was the 1:10 with Jess and Erin competing at the top heights. A huge congratulations to Erin who jumped absolutely beautifully in both rounds and the thrilling jump-off to win the class and qualify for the National Championships this summer. This is a huge achievement and well deserved.<\/div>\n

Thank you to all of the Flamstead children and their parents who took part. There was great determination and team spirit shown throughout the day and, most importantly, riders put their ponies’ health and wellbeing first in testing conditions.<\/div>\n
