We are running our summer camp at Duchy College this year. This will be three full days from Friday 7 August to Sunday 9 August.
The venue has two indoor schools and an outdoor school and also a cross country practice field with portable fences up to about 70 cms. We will have the use of a full set of show jumps and also plan to take our own new portable arena cross country jumps. There is also a mechanical horse which is not only fun to try but can be an excellent training aid for riders.
We will have a stable yard with stabling for up to 32 horses and ponies. Please note your pony must have up to date flu vaccination. Passports will need to be seen before the camp.
There is hardstanding for parking trailers, caravans and lorries (no hook ups) as well as field area for tents. Members will need to provide their own accommodation but if that’s a problem please contact us as we may be able to borrow a tent – or we can put you together to share. We will have the use of Sam’s Cafe for catering and also the loo and showers block. Paula will be there as matron and will be happy to discuss any sleeping arrangement and sharing.
We hope to provide a fun camp that will cater for all levels. Younger members can have training in show jumping, dressage, cross country and mounted games. They can work towards badges in those sports. Older/more experienced members can benefit from specialist dressage, show jumping and arena cross country training and the opportunity to analyse their riding on the mechanical horse.
There will be plenty of helpers but all those attending are expected to be able to care for their ponies.
