National Pony Club Championships- Eventing- 16th August 2025

National Championship report on the eventing- written by Sophie Jinks.

Friday was an early start with Jacky and your myself performing our PC100 dressage tests at 8.30! We both did tests we were happy with but unfortunately in very high scoring sections!
We then were early to showjump in the class. We both jumped clear jumping rounds but Jacky unfortunately picked up three time faults.
It was then Tabby’s turn to get her PC90 eventing campaign underway. She rode an accurate test but unfortunately had a couple of showjumps down.
Later that afternoon we spread ourselves around the course to watch Sophie head out for the Chairman’s cup XC course. She tackled all the tricky combinations really well and it was a shame to pick up 20 penalties at the second to last fence. She followed this up with a clear showjumping the last day which would’ve seen her take the win without the XC penalties but it was a fantastic result to have someone’s representing us at this level eventing so successfully at the Championships.
After watching Sophie showjump we headed out to watch Tabby’s XC round which was going fabulously around another tricky track just to have a blip at the water meaning they parted ways! This was a big hedge going in so the horses didn’t see the water until the last few strides before it and it caused its fair share of problems over the two days of XC.
Then it was the turn of the 100! Jacky went out first on the reliable Lilly and came back clear inside the time to move her up to individual 10th and in the placings! By day 10 of her stay up there my horse wasn’t feeling her best so I chose to retire her which was a disappointing end to our fun up there, but in her best interests!
After another hot week in the sun it was time to trek home. Now we look forward to our upcoming Tetrathlon which is a great excuse to go XC for anyone not wanting to travel out of county for some solid jumps which is a rarity these days! Anyone interested in Tet’s or finding out more about champs for next year let us know and we can do our best to inform you! It was, as always a fantastic experience with the most supportive and encouraging club and hopefully they’ll all be back competing there next year!
