Winter programme
Glenrothes Pony Club Trips
The committee organises outings and behind the scenes trips with insights into different aspects of equine industries. These are fun as well as educational and open to friends and family of GPC members.
Other important Glenrothes Pony Club dates!
August – Summer league
This is in a house competition for club members only. Therefore, it is an ideal opportunity to compete in a friendly, well-known environment. Competitors compete in an age-appropriate dressage test and at least one round of show jumping, ideally two rounds. Historically members have competed in age categories for both the Dressage and Showjumping. In 2022 we changed this and allowed members to jump a height that they felt suited them best. This worked well and therefore we will continue with this approach for 2023 . In addition, we will also allow members to choose their preferred dressage test. Below is a table with the typical test by age, but if for good reasons you want to do a different one feel free. Remember we are encouraging our members to challenge themselves but not scare themselves significantly outside their current abilities, we want you to progress ! The Jigsaw Trophy and the Dressage Trophy will be awarded at our annual awards ceremony for the winner of the Showjumping League and Dressage League.
September – Members Show
Thank you all for a great Member show on last year at Fife Riding Club. All of the members and ponies did very well but an extra special thank you to the volunteers behind the scenes!
Dressage Test Age
All dressage tests can be downloaded from the main PC website under ‘disciplines’. Tests may be called by a parent or helper, apart from Novice Dressage Test 2020. Mini Beginners/ Assisted can be on the lead rein or running alongside. Novice Dressage Test 2020 must be ridden in a snaffle. All other tests should be ridden in a snaffle with no martingale… however, if it is a question of members safety, please talk to Alison our DC, it is more important for our in house competition that members get an opportunity to compete safely rather than not take part.
Show jumping will be two phase (clear round immediately followed by timed jump off). Heights will be from Xpoles to 1m.
Correct show gear to be worn and rosettes will be awarded to 6th place.
All dressage tests can be downloaded at https://pcuk.org/sports/dressage/dressage-tests/
