Please visit our bookings calendar here to see What’s On in terms of rallies and events.

  • All our members are encouraged to come along to our rallies, which are group lessons. Our instructors are great at adapting lessons to suit the level and age of the rider/pony, so everyone can join in, learn and have fun.
  • By sharing lessons with top coaches, Pony Club members can access first-class coaching at reasonable prices. We’re an inclusive club and we want as many members as possible to attend our rallies.
  • In the summer we hold weekly ridden rallies at Lindores.
  • Our ridden rallies typically run with a ride at approx 6pm and another at 7pm, for an hour. We vary the content to make the most of the wonderful facilities at Lindores.
  • We also run horsemanship/ theory sessions before and after each ride for 30 minutes.
  • Members will be supported through the plethora of badges that are available, learning about agriculture, rural life, equine anatomy, and their ponies. Each member will have a personalised ‘Achievement Booklet’ where they can record their progress.
  • A question that pops up often is ‘Are we really going to ride in the rain?’ and the answer 95% of the time is ‘Yes we are!’ Investing in a riding waterproof kit is worthwhile. Keeping it in the car/lorry is also a sensible idea as the weather at Lindores can be very different to the weather at home. We don’t ride in thunder or lightning, or very high winds, and we will give you as much forward notice as possible, should we need to cancel a rally.
  • Our rallies and events are run with a risk-assessed approach and we have procedures in place to keep everyone as safe as possible. If you have any questions please contact one of our Committee Members, who will be happy to help.

Winter programme

Our winter rallies and trips take place at a range of venues; last season we were at Netherton on Sunday afternoons, Howe on Thursday evenings and LK sports on Saturday afternoons. This has allowed members to continue training but fit in other activities or part time work. We have also run a number of rallies with Perth PC, allowing members to experience different coaches and build new friendships.

Glenrothes Pony Club Trips

The committee organises outings and behind the scenes trips with insights into different aspects of equine industries. These are fun as well as educational and open to friends and family of GPC members.

Other important Glenrothes Pony Club dates!

August – Summer league

This is in a house competition for club members only. Therefore, it is an ideal opportunity to compete in a friendly, well-known environment. Competitors compete in an age-appropriate dressage test and at least one round of show jumping, ideally two rounds. Historically members have competed in age categories for both the Dressage and Showjumping. In 2022 we changed this and allowed members to jump a height that they felt suited them best. This worked well and therefore we will continue with this approach for 2023 . In addition, we will also allow members to choose their preferred dressage test. Below is a table with the typical test by age, but if for good reasons you want to do a different one feel free. Remember we are encouraging our members to challenge themselves but not scare themselves significantly outside their current abilities, we want you to progress ! The Jigsaw Trophy and the Dressage Trophy will be awarded at our annual awards ceremony for the winner of the Showjumping League and Dressage League.

September – Members Show

Thank you all for a great Member show on last year at Fife Riding Club. All of the members and ponies did very well but an extra special thank you to the volunteers behind the scenes!

Dressage Test Age

  • Mini Beginners D Level Walk and Trot 2012 any age
  • Mini C Level Dressage Test (same as D but with Canter) 9 and under
  • Junior Preliminary PC70 Dressage Test 12 and under
  • Intermediate Grassroots 2018 Dressage 14 and under
  • Senior Novice Dressage Test 2020 15 and over

All dressage tests can be downloaded from the main PC website under ‘disciplines’. Tests may be called by a parent or helper, apart from Novice Dressage Test 2020. Mini Beginners/ Assisted can be on the lead rein or running alongside. Novice Dressage Test 2020 must be ridden in a snaffle. All other tests should be ridden in a snaffle with no martingale… however, if it is a question of members safety, please talk to Alison our DC, it is more important for our in house competition that members get an opportunity to compete safely rather than not take part.

Show jumping will be two phase (clear round immediately followed by timed jump off). Heights will be from Xpoles to 1m.

Correct show gear to be worn and rosettes will be awarded to 6th place.

All dressage tests can be downloaded at https://pcuk.org/sports/dressage/dressage-tests/
