Barrier Spring Festival 2022/2023 – England & Wales
Arena Eventing, Dressage and Show Jumping competitions are running across England and Wales, with the finals being held 11th – 12th February 2023.
The Barrier Spring Festival is a competition series for Dressage, Show Jumping and Arena Eventing. Riders will compete to qualify for the Finals. The qualifying route for each sport is as follows:
Dressage – Each Area will hold an Area Qualifying Competition anytime before 31st January 2023. Members will compete at their Area Competition to aim to qualify for the Final in February 2023. There will be no Preliminary Rounds, but Branches & Centres are encouraged to run Friendly competitions to prepare members for the Area Competitions.
Arena Eventing – Each Area will hold an Area Qualifying Competition anytime before 31st January 2023. Members will compete at their Area Competition to aim to qualify for the Final in February 2023. There will be no Preliminary Rounds, but Branches & Centres are encouraged to run Friendly competitions to prepare members for the Area Competitions.
Show Jumping – Preliminary Rounds will be held up to the date of the Area Competition to enable Members to qualify for their Area Competition. Each Area will hold an Area Qualifying Competition between 1st December 2022 and 31st January 2023 (or earlier at the discretion of the Area Representative) for those who qualified at a Preliminary Round. Those who are successful at their Area Competition will qualify for the Final in February 2023.
NEW! Team Competitions – Dressage & Arena Eventing
Branches/Centres may enter a team of three or four members in the Dressage and Arena Eventing Area qualifying competitions. The team members can compete at different levels or all at the same level or a mixture of the two. A team must comprise of at least three members (i.e., one member may ride two horses) and the top three scores to count. If any of the individual qualifiers are in a qualifying team their place will be passed down the line.
NEW! Team Competition – Show Jumping
Should a Branch/Centre have three or four members qualify at the Area Competition, at any level, these members can combine to compete as a mixed level team at the Spring Festival Final. The team members can compete at different levels or all at the same level or a mixture of the two. A team must comprise of at least three members (i.e., one member may ride two horses) and the top three scores to count.

IF YOU ARE HOPING TO BE A COMPETITOR IN THE SUMMER REGIONALS OR CHAMPIONSHIPS, PLEASE ENSURE YOU ARE AWARE OF THE ELIGIBILITY RULES FOR THOSE COMPETITIONS, WHICH CAN BE FOUND ONLINE IN THE MAIN SPORTS RULEBOOKS. IF YOU ARE COMPETING AT THE SPRING FESTIVAL AREAS OR CHAMPIONSHIP AT A LEVEL ABOVE WHICH YOU HOPE TO COMPETE IN THE SUMMER, YOU MAY MAKE YOURSELF INELIGIBLE FOR THE SUMMER COMPETITION.
