HUNTER TRIAL CANCELLED – 15TH March 2020

Dear Competitors, as you are aware February 2020 has been the wettest on record. As a result of these extreme conditions Osberton Estate has today informed us that we are unable to run our Hunter Trials on the estate (due to be held on Sunday 15th March).

This is a great disappointment to the club but we respect the decision of the Osberton Estate in the management of their land.

Full refunds via Horse Events be issued.

We apologise for any inconvenience & disappointment this has caused.

We hope this gives you adequate notice and that we will see you at future events-weather permitting.

Kindest Regards GHPC Committee

THE PONY CLUB ARE FOLLOWING THE B.E.F. GUIDE IN RELATION TO THE RECENT OUTBREAKS OF EQUINE INFLUENZA – PLEASE SEE NOTES BELOW  – 15th Feb 2019

PLEASE SEE BELOW THE LATEST ADVISORY NOTE TO ALL THOSE ORGANISING RALLIES AND EVENTS FROM THE BEF:
BEF Advice for Competition and Training Event Organisers During the Current Outbreaks of Equine Flu
In the face of recent equine influenza outbreaks the British Equestrian Federation (BEF) asks all event organisers or coordinators to:
1. Check equine ID passports of all horses attending your event
Ensure that the horse (or pony) has received two injections for primary vaccination against equine influenza given no less than 21 days and no more than 92 days apart. Only these two injections need to have been given before a horse/pony can attend. In addition, if sufficient time has elapsed a first booster injection must be given no less than 150 days and no more than 215 days after the second injection of the primary vaccination. Subsequently, booster injections must be given at intervals of not more than one year apart. Any horse not complying with the vaccination rules should not be unloaded nor any horses travelling with it and they will not be allowed to participate in any session.
2. We strongly advise
If attending horses’ last vaccination was longer ago than six months, that they discuss an additional booster vaccination with their vet. If you are imposing a six month booster requirement on local veterinary advice, make sure that your event attendees are aware of this at when making entries and have enough time to comply – at least 7 days.
3. Yard hygiene/biosecurity
In moving from one premises to another, governing body officials or representatives must:
• Change their outer wear to minimise the likelihood of transmission of the flu virus on their clothes
• Change or disinfect shoes or boots before leaving one premises and getting into a vehicle to move to premises
• Wear disposable gloves or use alcohol hand gel between contact with individual horses and minimise contact with all horses.

12th December 2018

Message From DC Katie Hebblewhite

It has come to the end of the year and what a fabulous year it has been for Grove Hunt Pony Club.

We have taken show jumping teams to Chatsworth, Rockingham, Burghley & Osberton winning a £500 bursary at Osberton, Area, 80cm Championships and various pony club team show jumping with great success. 2018 was the start of the Area 6 Eventing League. Vicki Banks winning the Open and Lucy Sanderson winning the Novice. The Area 6 Eventing League was greatly supported by our Grove members with winnings and placings. We also had eventing teams compete in Area and Championships. The Open team Vicki Banks, Tinky Morris, Lucy Baguley and Edward Howard went through to Championships and were placed 3rd, making them the 3rd best Pony Club 1M team in the Country. Emma Bunting and Hannah Jones have both qualified for the Dengie dressage finals 2019. We have seen our member pass their Road and Ride Safety, E, D, D+, C, C+, B & AH tests. We also had a good Summer Camp and a very wet spring hunter trail. Thank you to our members for their commitment, hard work and dedication and to their family and friends for the time, money and effort that goes into taking the children to competitions and training.

Grove is very lucky to have a fabulous team of instructors. Thank you to all our instructors for your support to our children and parents! From your support we have a great bunch of children, to see their confidence and abilities grow, watching their success for me it’s lovely to see and I feel very proud and lucky to be part of a wonderful pony club.

I would also like to thank the committee, especially Fiona and Rebecca. They work very hard, making our members happy and have been a great support to me in my first year as DC. All our committee members are volunteers and give up their free time to support and run the club, it couldn’t run without them. I welcome new committee members; Emma Marsden, Nick Camm, Kennedy Taylor-Camm, Emily Woodcock, Amanda Scott and Elizabeth Ross.

Rachel Ashworth has resigned from her post as Chief Instructor. Rachel has said she will continue to teach and support the club, but not in the role of Chief Instructor. Thank you, Rachel for your time, commitment and support.

Fiona Horne also is resigning from her post as Treasurer. Fiona and her family have given so much time to support the club, from setting up online bookings; this took many weeks and numerous telephone calls to pony club head office. Building cross country courses, setting up many camps, supplying the sweets, drinks and prizes, jump judging, commentating and so much more. Fiona you and your families support is greatly appreciated, and you will be missed by many. Fiona leaves the pony club in good financial health.

Julia Bunting has resigned from her post as Test Training Organiser and Website Editor. I think we all agree the website looks very good, a lot of time was given to ensure so. Many thanks to Julia.

Vicki Banks our long standing member aged ?? (too old for pony club) we have to say goodbye as a member. Vicki has achieved so much throughout her years within Grove, she has been a fantastic ambassador to our children. She finishes on high winning the Area 6 open eventing league, qualifying for the championships finishing 3rd best team and 2nd individual. We will miss you Vicki.

Finally, I have to say thank you to my family, 3 of which are non-horsey for putting up with me not being a home at weekends and talking pony club.

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Members are needed to come forward and join the committee, there are a few roles where we require help/current members want to retire. The club takes a lot of organisation and is reliant on it’s members to offer their time and skills to help, without which the club wouldn’t run.

PC Key Rules Changes for 2018…….

*Hat Rule Amendments*

To unify hat standards across Member bodies and to avoid riders having to wear multiple tags on their hats, The Pony Club, British Eventing (BE) and British Riding Clubs (BRC) will introduce a new ‘aquamarine’ hat tag for 2018. The tag will carry the logo of the body that checked the hat so that tagging can be tracked.

*Will white tags still be accepted?*

No, white tags will no longer be accepted at Pony Club rallies, events or competitions and Branches should look to re-tag Members’ hats from now.

*Vaccination Rule Introduced*

The vaccination rules have been consolidated across all sports and a new rule will be introduced in 2018 that will require all horses and ponies taking part in Pony Club Competitions at Area level and above to be fully vaccinated.

*Numnahs / Saddle Cloths*

Any solid colour and contrasting piping is permitted across all Sports.

*Spurs*

Members will not require permission to wear spurs as of 1st January 2018. However, misuse of spurs should be reported to the DC / Centre Proprietor, Area Rep and the Training Chairman so that it can be dealt with accordingly.
