Tetrathlon Schedule 2022

Tetrathlon is a fun event where you participate in riding a course of cross-country fences, pistol shoot (using an air pistol), run and swim.  In the winter there is a pony club Triathlon series – where competitors do the run, swim and shoot. For members under 8 years the shoot is replaced with a bean-bag throw.

The events are also open to non-riding siblings as they can participate in the Triathalon events of running, shooting and swimming – a good day out for the whole family.

There is always an option to do the lower cross country course, so please do think about competing.

Like the other pony club disciplines for Juniors, Intermediates and Opens there are area qualifiers for National Championships.  In addition, Tetrathlon has Regional Championships for Juniors, Intermediates and Opens.  These competitions are by invitation only, and you will be part of the Southern England Team – the competition is great fun, and a whole weekend away making new friends. The Junior Regionals tend to be in early June and the Senior Regionals in July.  This is something to aim for – you need to be scoring in excess of 4000 to be considered and the riding phase is always fully up to height and very technical.  Juniors can also be considered to represent Southern England at Royal Windsor Horse Show.

We weren’t to be deterred by the weather and we ran another successful Tetrathlon at Lower Peake on 16th June, with many HHN participants. It was fantastic to see Hattie and Jake winning the Junior Girls and Boys sections respectively – they were the only 2 juniors to jump clear inside the time. Hattie also had an awesome shoot scoring 920. It was lovely to see some first timers having a go – well done William, Lauren and Paige. Poppy did well to get an individual placing of 6th in the Mini Girls. The munchkin girls showed that practice pays off with some excellent shoot scores – Darcie, in particular, scoring 780, and coming 7th overall. There were some lovely clear rounds from Sienna, Maddie and Ella, and they were placed 3rd, 4th and 6th respectively. Sienna also achieved the best run with an outstanding score of 1024. Finley and Findlay also took part. Well done to all HHN members – keep up the practice.

New Forest Hunt PC  27& 28th April Results!!!!

It was lovely to see HHN represented at the New Forest Tet by Ella, Maddie and Darcie.  All three were shooting for the first time, having moved up from the bean-bag throw.  All 3 shot really well, with Ella achieving a good score of 640.  Both Ella and Maddie were in a mixed team to come 2nd, and Ella came 3rd individually.  Darcie did the tri (the shoot, run and swim phases) and came a very credible 9th in a competitive class.  Well done girls and keep up the practice for our Tetrathlon in June

Freddie and Fletch represented HHNPC at the  PC Tetrathlon Championships in August, in the Intermediate boys – they came 4th with a score of 4,267, with a clear ride (there were only 5 clear boys).
