WELCOME

Hello and welcome to the Inverness-Shire Branch of the Pony Club.

We believe we are a friendly club and have about 60 members ranging in age from 5 to 25 – there is something for everyone to join in with throughout the year. We want everyone to enjoy their time at the club so to help you achieve this you are encouraged to improve your riding skills but also to learn more about the horses and ponies that rely on you for their care.

Throughout the year we hold Dismounted Rallies over the winter and Mounted Rallies from March to October including Cross Country in June. Rallies are very important to the club as you will meet other members, have fun, learn new things and enjoy riding. We need all our volunteers, parents and committee members to help throughout the year to be able to run these events, so please don’t hesitate to offer your services!

We want everyone at the club to progress and feel part of the branch, there are opportunities to compete at all levels as both an individual or as part of a team, whatever the discipline you will have support from us all.

The Pony Club is the number one organisation for young people who love ponies and riding. There are more than 43,000 Pony Club Members in Great Britain, belonging to either a Branch or Centre – there are more than 350 of each of these. Membership of the Pony Club offers fun, friendship, training, events and competitions.

The Aims of the Pony Club are:

  • To encourage young people to ride and to learn to enjoy all kinds of sport connected with ponies and riding.
  • To give instruction in riding and horse master-ship and to educate Members to look after and to take proper care of animals.
  • To promote the highest ideals of sportsmanship, citizenship and loyalty to create strength of character and self-discipline.

Internationally, the Pony Club has a membership of over 110,000 across 27 countries, making it the largest association of riders in the world. Most British equestrian medal winners at the Olympics and World Championships were members of the Pony Club.

Our branch was established in 1964, we are based at Dunaincroy which is about 1 mile from Inverness on the A82 towards Drumnadrochit.

We are very lucky to have a permanent base for our Pony Club members due to the kind permission of Mr and Mrs Donald Fraser, Dunain Main Farm.

So please, come and say hello the next time you are with us.
