The Tests are progressive an
d are designed to help you to increase your knowledge and skills as you work towards each level, beginning with “E” which is very simple, and finishing with “A” which involves a greater practical and theoretical knowledge.
Safe riding on the road is very
important and so the Mini Road Rider badge must be completed before the “D” Test, and the main Road Rider badge completed before the “C” Test.
From “C” Test level and upwards, the Riding and Horse & Pony Care sections of the tests can be taken separately.
The Pony Club Training structure encourages members to take tests which enables them to learn progressively about horse and pony care and riding. The tests are taken at recommended ages and are designed with certain objectives in mind – see below for the order in which tests are taken, test syllabuses, how to book, test fees and Direct Entry Guidelines/Exemptions.
A Test, AH Test, B+ Test, Lungeing Test, B Test, C+ Test, C Test, D+ Test D Test and the E Test.
Members can take the Care and Riding Sections separately for the C Test, C+ Test and B Test.

To keep everyone safe and uphold fair sportsmanship it is important to have Rules and Policies for competition and to support Official decision making. We encourage everyone to familiarise themselves with the Rules and the Pony Club Policies. Login into the Resource Hub to find out more.
Area Competitions & Selection
Members should make their own individual entries for the area competition as per the information provided by the organising branch. It is also very useful for us if you can inform the Branch Secretary which class you are entering so that we have an idea of who will be eligible for team selection before we receive the entries back from the organising branch.
The DC, in consultation with instructors will ensure that you are safe and competent to compete at your chosen level. Members are expected to attend training regularly and show commitment to the branch to be considered for teams. There may be occasions where a member is asked to compete at a higher or lower level (where eligible) to make up or strengthen a team.
