Training Squads

Traditionally, Lamerton have been able to enter teams in most Pony Club disciplines. Many of our teams and individual members qualify for the National Pony Club Championships. After a lot of research on how other Pony Clubs operate we have come up with the following arrangements, which the committee hope will continue to produce and improve on the outstanding riders and mounts for which we are becoming renowned.

To help focus on each discipline and to encourage members to work and compete as team members, we have set up Training Squads.

Anyone interested in representing the Branch and ultimately competing at national events needs to join the relevant Training Squad(s). Members may sign up to as many as they wish, but must ensure that they and their ponies are not overstretched.

The Training Squads will be led by:

Dressage: Sarah

Show Jumping: Sarah

Eventing: Sally

Tetrathlon: TBA

Squad Leaders will keep a record of attendance for riders and mounts, and members will be expected to keep a record of events and results of competitions over the season (using the LHPC Progress Chart). Teams and Individuals (plus reserves) will be selected by the Senior Instructor and the DC by April/May to allow plenty of time for final training plans.

Please be aware that you need to be a fully paid-up member before 28th February 2021 if you wish to represent your club at Area competitions.

Members wishing to compete at Area competitions will be required to attend the minimum number of rallies to qualify their horse/pony. Please see the relevant trainer for details.

Over the years, Lamerton members have taken pride in their turnout and overall appearance and we ask all members to turn out clean, tidy, and dressed correctly. If you are missing anything, please contact your trainer or visit the New Members page, where you will find a list of basic turnout requirements for Area competitions.
