OUR ANNUAL CAMP

imageThis years camp will be held at the Alps Equestrian Centre near Cardiff.

Qualifications to attend camp:

1. you must be a pony club member

2. You must be accompanied by an adult at all times unless you are over 16 years

3. You must have attended 3 rallies since July 2015

4. Two of the rallies should have been since 2016 (one should be a jumping rally)

Dates: set up camp on 16th August 

Camp starts 17th August and ends on 20th August 2016 

CAMP MEETING & AGM Will be arranged for a date in JULY  and will be held @ Llangan village Hall at 6:30pm Postcode CF35 5DS.

This will give you all the information you need for camp. We will also have medical forms to fill in along with info sheets to hand out.
Please bring a cheque to make payment on this day to secure a space Cheques will not be banked until the week before camp.
Please make as much effort as possible to attend.
We can then answer all camp questions.

SET UP DAY . Do not drive into main Alps Court entrance but instead continue further up the lane and enter via a gate into the cross country course fields. Drive down the hill across one field and into the bottom field. If the land is wet please restrict journeys to a minimum.

Once set up no vehicles should drive across the fields unless absolutely essential. Instead park in the field by gate and walk down to camp. This is to reduce damage to the land and reduce risks to horses and campers.

Set up day is used to pitch your horses electric fence coral and caravans, tents and all the arenas etc. There will be someone to show you the areas designated for camping. You need to supply all your own  posts electric fence tape and your own battery energiser. Pitch your tent or caravan or claim your horse lorry spot.

We need lots of volunteers to help put up the dinner tents and mark out arenas set up show jumps etc.

Once everything is set up you can bring horses and camp over night if you wish so that you are ready to ride by 9:30 am on Sat morning.

you cannot leave horses unsupervised. So if the horses are camping Friday night you must too. There is no catering on site until Sat lunch . So bring your own snacks or pop out for a local take away on Friday night and Saturday breakfast.

DAILY CAMP ROUTINE 

All children should be ready to ride by 09:30am and meet by the main show jumping arena to be split into rides and meet their instructors. there will be a tack and turn out inspection  at this point. Turn out is just normal rally clothing or cross country clothing – please see get the kit page on this website.

10am to 12noon morning ride

feed and water horses / lunch break in dinner tents

2pm to 4pm afternoon ride

feed and water horses / evening meal in dinner tents

7pm onwards evening entertainment

PRIZE GIVING DAY 

 

10am to 12noon morning ride (the last ride at camp)

morning will be the last  rally ride at camp and in the afternoon we will have dismounted camp prize giving.

 

THE CHIEF INSTRUCTORS AWARD – there will just be one award given for the person our Chief Instructor feels has been the most helpful, polite, happy, smart, team player and just all round good pony club member throughout the duration of camp.

MOST IMPROVED (one award for each ride). This award will be given to the person in each ride who the instructor and our judging panel feel has made the most improvement during camp.

INSTRUCTOR’S AWARD  (one per ride) This award is given by each rides main instructor and will be allocated based on criteria such as perseverance , enthusiasm, coping with  difficult circumstances etc etc.

PONY CLUB CAMP ROSETTES 2016 Each year all members who attend camp with be presented with a commemorative  Llangeinor Pony Club camp rosette as a keepsake.
