HORSE & PONY CARE COMPETITION – Teams of 3 –  Junior team – (all under 14 years old and one member under 12 years). Senior teams – (all over 14, and 1 under 16 only 1 member with B test)

Llangeinor Hunt Branch has been very strong in the Horse and Pony Care competition.

The training covers all aspects of horse and pony care, and also go a long way towards preparing you for the theory side of your badges and tests.  The Area competition is usually held during the Easter Holidays, with the teams which qualify go forward to the pony Club National Championships at Cholmondeley Castle in August.

The horse and Pony Care competitions focus on the practical side of stable management, from how to correctly turn your pony out for pony club competitions through fitting of tack to equine first aid and wound management. Although we do cover quite a bit of the theory behind pony care, it is really the ‘hands on’ side of things which are important here. Competitions are divided into Junior and Senior and consist of teams of 3.

Anyone who wants to join us for practices is more than welcome – teams will be chosen at the beginning of the year, but we can field as many teams for the area competition as we like, so if you’re willing to learn and have the time to put plenty of work in, then let me know. We will do more of the ‘theory’ side over the winter, with practical sessions when the weather is kind enough to allow us to spend hours playing with the ponies.
