Area Competitions 2022 – Team Managers Reports

Ludlow teams were out in force today at Area 7 showjumping at Solihull riding club.  The turnout was exceptional and everyone looked immaculate and jumped wonderfully.
Our 50cm team of Anya Smith, Mathew Davies, and Millie Wozencroft came team 2nd, very impressive with just 3 members.  Anya won individually on her lovely new pony Monty with Mathew Davies and Tiger Lilly coming individually 3rd, Mathew also came 4th individually in the 60 cm.
Our 70cm team didn’t get placed this time but all put in very positive performances with Dillon Walsh missing out on a place in the jump-off due to a sat nav error after an immaculate double clear.
In the 80cm our team gave a gutsy show of taking on the very full-up jumps with Oscar Morgan and the lovely Leo just 4 faults from a double clear.
Our 90cm team of Abigail Bradley, Scarlett Bailey, Eliza Hallett, and Chloe Potter came team 5th after a flawless first round had taken them into the lead, unfortunately too many rolled poles in the indoor arena saw the lead slip away.
In the 100cm our team of Cerys Arnold, Megan Caine, Holly Bailey, and Ollie Smith placed team 6th.
With Ollie Individually 6th.
Alice Salwey pulled off a wonderful triple clear on Galaxy numero for 3rd place and qualification for the championship, unfortunately, she’s unable to compete, but luckily Ollie was next in line and the qualification was passed down.
In the 110 Tamsin Hallet came 6th individually and qualified in the mixed area 7 team that came first.
Some fabulous results and lovely riding from 50cm right up through the classes.

Wow, what a day at Area Eventing.  All members rode with such maturity, and manners and looked fabulous.  Some great results too.
The team- Grace Williams, Poppy Pritchard, Chloe Potter, and Emily Walsh got 4th place Qualifying for the Grassroots Championships.  We had some great individual placings also with Grace Williams absolutely smashing it to WIN her section, followed by Poppy Pritchard-5th, Chloe Potter -11th, Emily Walsh -12th.  Not forgetting our individuals Orla Harrison and Pheobe Breen who were both amazing just luck wasn’t on their side today.
Ella Perkins, Abi Bradley, Becky Parsonage, Milly May.  Well …… They were all fantastic and WON !!!! National Championships here they come !!!  Some super individuals placings also – Ella- 3rd, Becky -5th, Abi- 6th, and Millie-7th.
90cm OPEN
Poppy May in a small section of 1 took the WIN in the 90 open, it was, however, a super Effort and both looked on great form.
Unfortunately, poor Oli Smith had to withdraw both his rides so we didn’t have a team.  Eliza had the most unfortunate slip in the SJ ( it had become very slick in places !! ) which resulted in Poor Eliza coming out the side door.  Megan Caine and the lovely Mix-up stood alone in the 100 for the Ludlows to finish in 12th place.
Last but not least Dylan Walsh in the 70. It was his 1st ever One day event!!! He really did do a super job and was fantastic seeing him coming through the finish line of the XC, it’s not always about the results. 💜
Thank you, everyone, that competed today, I was very Proud to be part of your journey and can’t wait for the Championships.
Thank you to everyone who helped and a special thank you to all the parents, the members couldn’t do it without you.
This is why I love Eventing.

Well done to all of our members who took part in the Area 7 Dressage at Solihull on Sunday. Everyone rode really well and was so smartly turned out – thank you, pony club Mums!
For our Grassroots team of Leah, Nancy, and Daisy, it was their first time competing at Areas; all did brilliantly and were a joy to watch!
The Novice team rode some fabulous tests, with Poppy 3rd, Millie 7th, and Orla 8th in their sections, the team came 9th overall (again a first time at areas for Orla and a great start!)
Our Intermediate Team finished in 4th position with some brilliant tests ridden by Ella 4th, Abi 6th, Tilly 7th, and Matilda 8th, in their sections. This was a strongly contested level and we just missed out on placing for the Championships.
Our individual entry in the Open was Becky, who stormed away with a fantastic test to take 1st place and qualified for the Championships!!
Thank you to everyone for all of their hard work, both members and parents. A special thank you also to Nancy Rollings for coming to help members warm up for their tests.
