Area Horse Trials and Area Dressage – Two Reports from Issy Manning

On July 22nd it was Area 9 Horse Trials at Dauntsey Park. Georgie Toole did brilliantly to come 4th individually in her Novice section on Magic. She had the best Dressage in her section, clear show jumping, clear cross country, but had some annoying time faults for going too FAST !!

On July 26th it was Area 9 Dressage at Frampton Court. It was an extremely long day for some of us and was horrible weather all morning! We started at 9.06 with Genevieve Manning riding Harry in the Novice section as an individual (unfortunately Brooke and Amber pulled out) and they dis a very nice test for 65.9 percent which was just out of individual placing, 10th. Next was Georgie Toole on Magic in the Open and they pulled a 2nd place out of the bag to qualify for the PC Champs for the third year. Well done! Then the regional team tests: Tiggy Manning riding Bobby (borrowed from Milly Cox – thank you) came 2nd in her section with a fabulous 69.5 percent, repeating last years result when she was 2nd on Badger. Lottie Gilderson was 4th in her section on Charlie with a 68.5 percent. Flora Webb on Zing was 8th in her section with a 59.3 percent. These three girls were placed Team 4th and qualified for the regional Champs at Rectory Farm in August. Our debut riders at Area regionals were Mia Smith and Lucy Eastham who both rode great tests to come 16th (66 percent) and 20th (63 percent) in their sections and unfortunately were riding as individuals as Ethan pulled out so they had no team.Well done to all the girls, horses and parents. Hopefully next year we can field some full teams and really SMASH it!!

Wyre Forrest 2 Phase Event – Doddenham Hall – 25th September 2016

Well done to Flora Webb who entered this event riding Seamus, a first for both. Flora was delighted to be placed 7th individually!

A couple of weeks earlier Flora went to Rectory Farm Show Jumping Area 9 Qualifier with Mini, where they were placed 6th individually in 65cm class.

Double celebrations for Flora!!

Grassroots Championships Dressage and Show Jumping Teams

Issy Manning reports that Malvern Pony Club were represented at the regional Grassroots Championships at Rectory Farm on 27th and 28th August in Dressage and Show Jumping. Our Dressage Team that qualified was Lottie Gilderson, Teagan Manning, Lucy Allsop and Phoebe Watts. Great riding from all the team; we were just out of the team placings, however Lottie went through to a ride off in which she was placed 2nd individually! Well done Lottie and Charlie!

On Sunday 28th our qualified Show Jumping Team was Lucie Beard, Sarah Bilsby, Teagan Manning and Lottie Gilderson. Sarah joined the team as Esme Ruff who had qualified originally was on holiday. Again we had great riding and we finished on a team score of 8 faults after 2 rounds of jumping on grass and then in the main arena. We were tied in 7th place with several teams but our time put us 11th. Both Lottie and Sarah managed to get through to the jump off with double clears.

After a makeover in the lorry park (a quick mane pull and plait up of Oliver Beard) we managed to get Team 6th in the Tack and Turn Out! Well done to all the girls and ponies!

Results from Area Dressage 27th July 2016

Issy Manning reports that Georgie Toole was individual 2nd in the Open Test and has qualified for the PC Championships for the second year running! She was also in a mixed team which was 4th.

Our Novice Team of Amber Knott, Fae Slater and Genevieve Manning did not get a team placing but Amber was individual 9th.

Our Grassroots Team of Lottie Gilderson, Phoebe Watts, Lucy Allsop and Teagan Manning managed a Team 5th in the 12 and under, Team 6th in the Grassroots and individually Lottie was 3rd, Lucy was 10th and Teagan was 2nd. The team qualified for the Grassroots Championships and those placed as individuals!

A Good Day for Malvern Pony Club – well done to you all!

Hartpury Festival of Dressage 9th July 2016

Congratulations to Georgie Toole, one of our associate members who was placed 5th at Hartpury in the BYRDS A Squad Rider Final. She had managed to qualify at the BYRDS inter regionals in Yorkshire where only 9 riders went forward to the prestigious final during the British Dressage Nationals at Hartpury.

A great achievement for Georgie!

Area Show Jumping Sunday 17th July 2016

Issy Manning reports that the Grass Roots team came 9th out of 37 teams! They had to jump in two rings 80cm and then 85cm . The team consisted of Lottie Gilderson, Teagan Manning, Esme Ruff and Lucie Beard. Lottie Gilderson was 8th Individually! Well done to you all!

Also, we had two individuals in the Novice Area: 90cm in first ring and 95cm in the second. Amber Knott managed a clear round in the first and a couple of stops with a lost stirrup in the second. Genevieve Manning had an unlucky pole in each ring.

Great riding from all!

Area 9 Show Jumping Championships 6th September

Congratulations to Lottie Gilderson and Sarah Bilsby who represented Malvern Pony Club at this event. It was very competitive but Lottie did Malvern proud by coming 6th individually in both her by Deal Top” href=”#976098″> classes as well as gaining a team 3rd. Way to go Lottie! Sarah also had a good day coming 11th in her by Deal Top” href=”#56987832″> class and just missing out on a rosette! Well done to you both!

Area Junior and Mini Horse Trials August 9th at Rabson Down in Wiltshire

Malvern Pony Club were represented by Genevieve and Teagan Manning. Genevieve riding Harry was individual 5th in the Junior Area; she finished on her dressage score of 27.9 and went clear in show jumping and cross country. She was so pleased as it was their first ODE as a new combination.

Teagan was in the Mini Area and had a satnav error! She would have been individual 2nd but after doing a great dressage and clear show jumping, she missed out a fence on the cross country!

Well done to Genevieve and Teagan. Hopefully next year we can take some teams to represent us!

Area Dressage July 28th

This year Malvern Pony Club was represented at Area 9 by Georgie Toole riding as an individual in the open section. We had a Novice Team of Fae Slater, Esme Owen, Kathryn Smith and Natalya Morrison, then we had two Junior Teams of Genevieve Manning, Teagan Manning, Lottie Trevethan, Lilly Collop, Lottie Gilderson and Sarah Bilsby. All members performed to a high standard, however our best performer of the day was Georgie who was second in her section and qualified for the Pony Club Championships. This took place on 23rd August and Georgie did an incredible by Deal Top” href=”#93622244″> job; she won her section and went into a ride off, where she finished 10th overall. Area 9  Show Jumping Competition – Sunday 5th July

8 members represented us at the Area 9 Show Jumping competition. It was the first time at area level for some but our members showed great team spirit and support for each other and we had a great day despite rather changeable weather and a narrow escape when a helicopter landed right behind our trailers!

Teagan Manning, Sarah Bilsby, Natalia Morrison and Lottie Trevethan represented us in the Junior competition. After 2 rounds they finished with just 4 time faults between them and, along with 4 other teams on 4 faults, went forward to the jump off. They all put in yet another clear round, to come 4th overall out of 35 teams.

Our Novice team was Katherine Smith, Clare Smith, Esme Owen and Lydia Webster. They coped well with a tricky course and rather challenging ground but did not manage a place this time.

A huge well done to all who took part!!

Congratulations for Nomination as Young Sports Personality

Congratulations to Lottie Trevethan who has been nominated as Young Female Personality of the year in the Malvern Hills  District Community Sports Awards 2015. She is in the top three nominees!

Lottie has expressed her thanks to Malvern Pony Club and her Instructor Issy Manning in helping her achieve this nomination.
