Eventing is made up of three disciplines, Dressage, Show Jumping and Cross Country; at a One\u00a0Day Event the disciplines are ridden in this order. The penalty points incurred by a competitor in\u00a0each of the three phases are added together to give a final score for the whole competition, the\u00a0competitor with the least points being the winner. A competitor disqualified or eliminated in one\u00a0phase is eliminated from the whole competition. It is normally the rule that if a rider is eliminated in\u00a0the show jumping phase they are not allowed to participate in the cross country.<\/p>\n

It is highly recommended that you visit www.pcuk.org<\/em><\/a> to download a copy of the current Pony Club Eventing Rules.\u00a0The\u00a0Rule Book contains the rules for all Pony Club run Eventing and Arena Evening competitions, plus eligibility criteria for the\u00a0various levels at Area competitions.<\/p>\n

PLEASE NOTE<\/u><\/strong> – When agreeing to be part of an AREA TEAM, members must ensure that they are available to participate at the National or Regional Championships, should their Team secure a qualification.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n\r\n <\/div>\r\n<\/section>\r\n\n\n\r\n

PC Chairman\u2019s Cup<\/strong> \u2013 now in its fourth year, this is a team and individual competition.\u00a0 At the Championships there will be a trot up prior to the Dressage phase.\u00a0 The show jumping will take place on the final day, in reverse order of placings. Lots of prizes including one for the Best Dressed Rider in the trot-up and Best Turned-out Horse. Area qualifier on 28 June at Lt. Downham.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Area 8 BIBEAZ LEAGUE <\/strong>– Points to be gained in ODE competitions 70, 80, 90 & 100 for top ten placings throughout the year, with rosettes and prizes for the overall winners. See Area 8 website for full details.<\/p>\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n\r\n <\/div>\r\n<\/section>\r\n\n\n

To be able to represent your Pony Club at\u00a0\u2018Area Competitions\u2019 all Competitors\u00a0must be members of the N&T Pony Club.<\/p>\n

The combination of horse\/pony and the PC member need to have been instructed by the relevant \u2018Discipline\/Sport Trainer\u2019 at least once to be considered for that team.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Both the horse\/pony and the PC member need to have attained at least 3 rally points since 1st July 2025, with the minimum of 1 being in current year, 2026.<\/p>\n

N.B. At least 1 of these points has to be attained by both the horse\/pony and the PC member attending either PC Camp or an activity advertised as a \u2018Rally.\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n

Any number of points can be gained by \u2013<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

Attending any activity which is advertised as a \u2018Rally\u2019 \u2013 1 point each Rally.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

Which includes the following –<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

Gymkhana Rallies \u2013 1 point each Rally.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

\n

Katie Barrett Technical Training Rally \u2013 1 point for each TT Rally.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

\n

Attending any Area 8 Training \u2013 I Rally Point<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

\n

The other 2<\/strong> remaining points that are needed can be attained by a combination of the following \u2013<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

Up to 2 Rally points can be gained by \u2013<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

Katie Barrett\u2019s \u2018GROUP\u2019 XC instruction Rally \u2013 1 point for each XC Rally.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

Up to 2 Rally points can be gained by \u2013<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

John Adams \u2018GROUP\u2019 or individual Show Jumping Rally \u2013 1 point for each SJ Instruction.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

Up to 2 Rally points can be gained by  \u2013<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

Fiona Van Tuyll individual Dressage instruction \u2013 1 point for each Dressage Instruction.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

It is vital that you have all complied with these qualifications otherwise you will not be able to compete and that would be terribly sad for all of us.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

N.B. Your DC has discretion in the case of those who are working or in further education.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

Show Jumping and Cross Country only <\/strong>\u2013 a whip, if carried, must be held in the hand by the handle with the handle at the top.  The whip must be \u2018padded.\u2019  The maximum length of the whip is 70cm and must be no less than 45cm.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n
