Barrier Animal Health Spring Festival, 28-30 March 2026<\/strong> – Addington Equestrian Centre, Buckingham \u2013 Organised by the Pony Club<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

\n

The Barrier Animal Health Spring Festival is a competition series for Dressage, Show Jumping and Arena Eventing. Riders compete to qualify for one of three finals in England\/Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

\n

All members need to qualify to enter the finals, so all competitors have done extremely well already to get to the Spring Festival.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

\n

The weather was cold, but bright, and it was an impressive sight upon arrival at Addington to see all the hundreds of horseboxes and trailers parked up, and the rows of temporary stabling, all fully booked, for those staying for a night or two.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

\n

The N&T\u2019s two riders, who had qualified as individuals in the Area 8 Arena Eventing Qualifier in November at Radley Green, and now in the 80cm Arena Eventing<\/strong> Final<\/strong>, were Rosie riding Uncle Monty, and Momoka riding Knockbridge Just Jimmy.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

\n

Both Rosie and Momoka rode beautifully and within the time allowed, so no time penalties to add, which is always a challenge in Arena Eventing.  Momoka jumped a double clear and finished impressively in fifth position.  Rosie was clear until the very last jump, the \u2018bogey\u2019 fence, which is 10cm higher and placed as a knock-down show jump at the end of the XC section, unfortunately attracting six jumping penalties.  Trainer Katie Barrett was extremely proud of you both, very well done!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

Huge thanks to Katie, who spent the whole week-end at Addington, not only helping our two Arena Eventing competitors, but also the 14 members competing in the 70cm, 80cm, 100cm and 110cm Show Jumping classes.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

\n

The Spring Festival is a prestigious and exciting event to be part of, there is something for everyone within all the disciplines of Dressage, Show Jumping and Arena Eventing and we would encourage all Members to try and qualify for next year and join in the fun!!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

RADLEY GREEN Arena Eventing, Saturday 21 February 2026<\/strong>, Organised by the Essex Union Hunt Pony Club<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

Ten N&TPC Members were originally entered in this Arena Eventing competition, with eight competing on the day, over the beautifully presented show jumping and cross country courses, where jumps included steps, water and ditches, in classes ranging in height from 40cm to 100cm. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

\n

As well as competing as Individuals, teams of three in the same class were also invited.  Whilst we had two members enter each class from 50cm to 100cm, we could only make up one team, in the 70cm – and they won! <\/strong>Very well done to Nancy riding Rupert The Bear, Reika riding Litton Flashman and Ruby riding Inisbri Honey Bee.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

Those stepping up on the podium, with winners collecting sashes and goodie bags as well as rosettes were:<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

Area 8 Barrier Animal Health Spring Festival Arena Eventing Qualifier<\/strong>, 15-16 November 2025, at Radley Green Equestrian Centre<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

\n

Competing as individuals and in teams, 12 N&T members rode the show jumping course, immediately followed by the cross-country course, in classes ranging in height from 60cm to 100cm, trying all the time to obtain that optimum time, which was very tricky and the majority of riders on the day went too fast!  The ultimate goal was qualification for the Animal Health Spring Festival finals being held 28-30 March at Addington Equestrian Centre, Buckinghamshire.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

\n

The day started extremely well with a N&T win<\/strong> in the first class of the day, a 60cm open non-qualifying class, for Reika riding Lettermuckoo Lucy.  Very well done Reika!  Competing as an individual in the 70cm open non-qualifying class resulted in a podium third position for Phoebe, who was riding her young horse Romeos Prince, who also finished seventh in the 80cm qualifier.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

\n

Two teams were entered in the 80cm qualifying class.  In the N&T Red team, Rosie riding Marmalade, Ollie riding Oliver Twist and Nancy riding Ruper The Bear, finished in a very credible sixth position, whilst the N&T Blue team of Momoka riding Knockbridge Just Jimmy, Eiji riding Pebbly Principal Boy and Rosie riding Uncle Monty climbed the podium in second<\/strong> place.  Very well done to both teams.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

Individual qualifications went to Momoka and Rosie O\u2019B, they will now compete in the Arena Eventing Finals at the Spring Festival in March.  Very well done to you both!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

Soham & District PC, Open Hunter Trial<\/strong>, incorporating the Gerry Webster Trophy and the Wilkinson Sword, at Isleham on 12th<\/sup> October, 2025<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

The Soham & District Pony Club\u2019s Open Hunter Trial has been a long standing favourite event for our Branch.  This year we had 11 members competing as individuals, with nine making up the three teams contesting the 70\/80cm Gerry Webster Trophy and the 90\/100cm Wilkinson Sword.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

\n

For the Gerry Webster Trophy we had two teams of three: In the N&T Red Team were Poppy riding Elmaftun, Rosie riding Uncle Monty and Edith riding Rockyview Hanah.  With just time penalties to add to her clear cross-country round, Edith was the highest placed in 14th<\/sup> position individually.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

\n

In the N&T Blue Team were Phoebe riding Romeos Prince, Momoka riding Knockbridge Just Jimmy and Eiji riding Pebbly Principal Boy. Jumping clear with no time penalties, Phoebe\u2019s young horse \u2018Rodney\u2019 impressed by finishing fourth individually in the 70cm. Momoka and Eiji also produced clear XC rounds with just a few time penalties to add, resulting in second<\/strong> place for Momoka and 15th<\/sup> for Eiji in the 80cm.  Also competing in the 80cm, as an individual, Nancy riding Rupert The Bear jumped clear cross-country with just time penalties to add finishing in a credible 16th<\/sup> place.  All these wonderful clears resulted in a resounding WIN <\/strong>for the Blue Team and the N&T retained the Gerry Webster Trophy for another year.  Very well done to all our riders!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

\n

The Team of three competing in the 90cm and 100cm classes contesting the Wilkinson Sword were Martha riding Nedalga, Katie riding Alamo Foxy and Hannah riding Kilpatrick Cleaboy.  Katie was clear with just a few time penalties finishing in tenth place.  Our highest placed individual was Hannah, clear with no penalties to add, who finished in second <\/strong>place, which was particularly impressive as this was Hannah\u2019s first XC event competing at 100cm.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

Blenheim Palace, Pony Club Eventers\u2019 Challenge<\/strong>, Friday 19 September 2025<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

Our six N&T members felt privileged to compete in such spectacular surroundings, with Blenheim Palace as the backdrop and the FEI Eventing European Championships unfolding. This also gave our riders the chance to watch part of the dressage phase, including former N&TPC member Bubby Upton\u2019s test.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

\n

100cm <\/strong>– Largely due to members beginning new stages of their education,  we were reduced to just two riders, Phoebe on Tourmakeady Jack and Francesca on High Meadows Topgun. Fortunately, with riders from the Puckeridge and Cambridgeshire Hunt branches also eager to compete but lacking full teams, we were able to join forces and form a mixed team, with the addition of Monique riding Hathaway Strider, and Imogen riding Eli.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

\n

As with all Arena Eventing competitions, the real challenge lies not only in jumping clear but also in finishing within the undisclosed optimum time. The 100cm course proved fast and technical, with our riders having the odd \u2018pesky pole\u2019 and a few time penalties, plus a sat-nav error for one \u2013 easily done on such a long track! Despite no clears, the team secured a very creditable 8th<\/sup> place out of the 15 teams competing.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\r\n

90cm<\/strong> \u2013 Our N&T team of four riders, Katie riding Alamo Foxy, Eiji riding Knockbridge Just Jimmy, Clara riding Clansevin Gimme and Hannah Cullen riding Kilpatrick Cleabory were competing in a class of 153 riders!  The time was very tight and, again, it was a long and twisty course which produced only four clear rounds within the optimum time – one of which was Katie, who finished in fourth position individually \u2013 very well done!  The other riders all rode beautifully but, again, had \u2018pesky poles\u2019 and time penalties, resulting in 11th <\/sup>place out of 40 teams!  Very well done!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\r\n

Regional Grassroots Championships, Eventing <\/strong>Aston-le-Walls, weekend of 30-31August 2025<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

For many of our N&T riders this was their first experience of competing at a big equestrian event, with the excitement of stabling ponies at the venue, camping or sleeping in a \u2018straw hotel\u2019 – otherwise known as a horsebox! From the feedback received, everyone had a fantastic time and are already keen to try for qualification next year for the Regional Championships, or even step up to the National Pony Club Championships!
Our competitors were so lucky to have the help and support of both Katie and Fiona for this important competition and their guidance brought the best out of our riders and ponies, resulting in every N&T competitor being in the top ten presentations \u2013 despite having to ride XC in the torrential rain which made the course very tricky. Well done everyone and special thanks to Katie and Fiona, who also got completely drenched!!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

PC70<\/strong>
The team of Henry, riding Captain Nemo, Nancy on Rupert the Bear, Rosie O\u2019B riding Uncle Monty and Rosie C riding Marmalade, together with Tory riding Ciffig Lucky who was competing as an individual and finished on her dressage score in seventh place within her section, all the N&T PC70 riders jumped clear SJ and XC!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

\n

With Rosie O\u2019B and Henry both winning their sections, and Nancy and Rosie C finishing sixth and ninth respectively, this resulted in a podium second place for the team – and literally a bucket full of prizes!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\r\n

PC80<\/strong>
The PC80 team were not to be outdone by their PC70 friends, with this team also all jumping double clears. Siblings, Momoka riding Lettermuckoo Lucy, and Eiji riding Pebbly Principal Boy, finished on almost identical scores, with just 0.4 between them, both finishing in ninth position within their respective sections. Another to be ninth in their section was Clara riding Clansevin Gimmie, and final member of the team Georgina, riding Knockbridge Just Jimmy, was the highest placed team member, finishing in seventh position within her section. All these excellent scores resulted in the team finishing fourth, just missing out on a podium position, from the 16 teams competing. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

Just to get to these Championships is a great achievement, riders only have one chance to qualify for them, and to have all N&T riders jump double clears shows how hard you have all worked, with the help and support of your branch trainers and, of course, your wonderful ponies!

NATIONAL PONY CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS<\/strong> Offchurch Bury, Warwickshire. Eventing 14-16 August 2025<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

\n

Four members of the N&T branch qualified for the National Pony Club Eventing Championships, two each in both the PC90 and PC100 classes. Our riders were very grateful to Fiona and Katie, who were with them every step of the way to support and help them prepare and compete to their very best ability, in this the Pony Club\u2019s biggest event of the year.
<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

PC 90<\/strong>
Our two individual qualifiers for the PC90 were Hannah riding Kilpatrick Cleaboy, and Mollie riding My Nelly. Hannah, despite jumping great clears in both the SJ and XC, sadly did not make it into the top ten prize winners, and neither did Mollie with a PB in dressage and clear SJ, such was the strong competition (these are the Championships!) it was extremely difficult to make the top ten positions. Nevertheless, both riders were a credit to your Branch and both ponies and riders came through the XC finish with smiles on their faces!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

\n

PC100<\/strong>
Having both already produced good dressage tests and superb clear rounds in the show jumping, both our riders, Ruby on Call Me Kev and Phoebe riding Tourmakeady Jack, faced the XC course, where some of the fences were already being talked about as \u2018rider frighteners!\u2019 However, no one told Kev and Jack who both flew round clear, making the track look effortless! Phoebe finished in fifth position in her section and both Phoebe and Ruby were awarded a much-coveted Craddock Rosette, awarded to riders who achieve double clears at Areas and Championships.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\r\n

AREA 8 EVENTING QUALIFIERS<\/strong> – PC90, PC100, Chairman\u2019s Cup & Regional PC70 and PC80 Qualifier, Isleham, 13 July 2025<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

With the cancellation of the Gosling Cup this year, where the PC70 qualifier was originally due to be held, it resulted in a hectic day for our Trainers, Katie and Fiona, who were kept very busy dashing from Dressage to SJ to XC to keep up with the 20 competitors from the N&T who were vying to qualify for the National and Regional Pony Club Championships being held in August.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

\n

At the end of the day 70% of our N&T riders had qualified for the Eventing Championships – a marvellous achievement!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

\n

PC70 Grassroots Regional Eventing Qualifier<\/strong>
The N&TPC fielded two teams of four, the N&T Terriers Team of Henry riding Captain Nemo, Nancy riding Rupert The Bear, Rosie O\u2019B riding Uncle Monty and Rosie C riding Marmalade were really on form, all finishing on their dressage scores and with Nancy and Rosie C both winning their sections! Henry and Rosie O\u2019B came third and fourth in their sections, resulting in a resounding WIN for the Team and qualification for the Regional Championships at Aston-le-Walls over the week-end of 30-31 August.
The N&T Pointers Team of Tory riding Ciffig Lucky, Emily B riding Peasedown Luigi, Emily D on Ramiro\u2019s Angel and Ryan riding Yogi Boy also produced two individual qualifiers from the sections, with Ryan finishing on his dressage score in fifth position and Tory in sixth.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\r\n

PC80 Grassroots Regional Eventing Qualifier<\/strong>
The team of four, all jumping double clears, were determined to keep up with their PC70 friends and, again, N&T were the winning team! PC90 Area Eventing Qualifier<\/strong>
A team of three, so no room for a drop score, resulted in sixth place for the team of Hannah riding Kilpatrick Cleaboy, Mollie riding My Nellie and Emily riding Flying Strait. Highest placed was Hannah who finished second in her section and gained qualification, as did Mollie, for the National PC Championships.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

PC100 Area Eventing Qualifier<\/strong>
Again a team of three, Zara riding PRF Jaguar Elite, Phoebe riding Tourmakeady Jack and Ruby riding Call Me Kev, resulted in two podium places for Phoebe and Ruby, who finished second and third respectively, gaining qualification for the National Pony Club Championships at Offchurch Bury 8-16 August.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

Suffolk Pony Club ODE<\/strong> – Sunday 27th<\/sup> April 2025<\/strong>, Ickworth Park<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

Held on a very warm and sunny spring day, there was an enormous entry for this popular One Day Event run by the Suffolk Pony Club, with classes for 70cm, 80cm, 90cm, 100cm and Chairman\u2019s Cup. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

\n

11 N&TPC members individually entered the ODE and also put themselves forward for a Team place.  Eventing Trainer, Katie Barrett, was able to select three teams to contest this part of the competition, which ran alongside the individual classes.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

\n

From a total of 18 teams competing on the day, our N&T Terriers Team (Henry riding Captain Nemo, Eiji riding Pebbly Principal Boy, Florrie riding Clonleigh Pride and Ruby riding Call Me Kev) finished in second position!  All Terrier Team members were also placed individually within their classes.  Well done the Terriers!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

Also gaining team rosettes were the N&T Lurchers Team (Emily riding Sunnyhill Beauty, Momoka riding Lettermuckoo Lucy, and Georgina riding Knockbridge Just Jimmy.) As a team of only three all scores counted and they finished in fourth place, with Georgina and Momoka also collecting individual fourth and seventh rosettes respectively in the 80cm, with Emily only just missing out in 11th<\/sup> place. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

In addition to the above prize winners, two other members were placed individually, Hannah riding Kilpatrick Cleaboy finished third in the 90cm and her brother Adam, riding Yogi, came eight in the 70cm, in their first ODE. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

BARRIER ANIMAL HEALTH SPRING FESTIVAL – ARENA EVENTING CHAMPIONSHIPS Saturday 1st March and Sunday 2nd March 2025<\/strong>, Addington Equestrian<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

The weather could not have been more perfect for the running of the Barrier Animal Health Spring Festival, where Pony Club members from England and Wales gathered at Addington Equestrian Centre in Buckinghamshire to compete in the Show Jumping, Arena Eventing and Dressage Championships. Despite the frosty mornings, which delayed the start of the classes in the outdoor arenas, everything ran smoothly and the Officials and Volunteers could not have been more friendly and helpful to all the competitors.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

\n

Arena Eventing is a challenge whereby riders must expertly judge their pace to be within five seconds of that elusive \u2018optimum time\u2019 to avoid time penalties – without the help of a stopwatch – while also delivering a flawless round over a demanding course of show jumps and XC fences, some of which can also be knocked down. To top it off, they must clear the higher \u2018Joker\u2019 fence at the end of the course in order not to incur an additional six jumping penalties.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

\n

Nine N&T members competed in the Arena Eventing Championships, following qualification at the Area Qualifier held on the 4th January at Forest Edge. They competed in four classes over the two days; 70cm, 80cm, 90cm and 100cm.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

\n

70cm – Henry, riding Captain Nemo, was our only member in this class and turned out to be our highest placed N&T competitor over the week-end in Arena Eventing, jumping a brilliant double clear with no time penalties, being beaten by just .53 of a second from the optimum time. Podium position as Reserve Champion \u2013 very well done Henry and Nemo!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

\n

80cm \u2013 Two N&T members contested this class. Rosie riding Marmalade, and Mollie riding My Nelly. Both jumped superb double clear rounds and Mollie was unlucky in picking up just a couple of time penalties. Rosie, being inside the time, finished in fourth position, just off the podium. Well done Rosie and Mollie, you both rode beautifully.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

\n

90cm \u2013 In the 90cm we had one Individual, Ruby, riding Call Me Kev, who despite incurring no time penalties, rolled pesky poles, as did first to go in the Team, Florrie riding Clonleigh Pride. Frankie riding Mr Shadow and Emily riding Flying Strait were the remaining members of the team. Faults spread throughout the course kept us out of the placings and not all went to plan, but experience gained.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

\n

100cm \u2013 The Team of Victoria riding Attyrory Mo Joe, Ruby riding Call Me Kev and Lily riding Libertie Lad finished in 5th position. Both Ruby and Lily were inside the time, with Lily being our highest placed rider, just out of the rosettes in 9th position. Double clear rounds were hard to achieve and there were only two from amongst the eight teams competing.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

It was a lovely surprise to see Katie, who gave up her week-end to course-walk and warm-up our riders in the collecting ring – couldn\u2019t do it without you! Thanks also to our DC, Tessa, for all her help and support given on Sunday.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

Well done everyone \u2013 it was great to see how well you all supported each other, whether competing in the Show Jumping, Arena Eventing or Dressage. It really was a great week-end!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

Many of those Members due to compete in the Spring Festival in a week\u2019s time took advantage of the Arena Eventing competition organised by the EUHPC to use the excellent arenas at Radley Green Equestrian and jump around the brilliant Cross Country courses, which included steps, water, ditches and, for some classes, a gallop track too!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

\n

Classes ranged in height from 40cm to 100cm and, where possible, all our riders were put into Teams of three or four riders. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

\n

Those in the ribbons, with some Members jumping up on the podium, were:<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

\n

40cm \u2013 Iris riding Volandero Amber Dancer, second<\/strong> place individually; Iris was also a member of The Tigers team which also finished second.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

50cm \u2013 Another rosette for Iris, this time 8th<\/sup> individually, plus third in an Area 8 mixed team.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

80cm \u2013 Florence riding Clonleigh Pride finished in 5th<\/sup> place, and was one of only three riders in the whole class to complete the course without time penalties.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

90cm \u2013 Florence again completed the course within the time and WON <\/strong>individually, well done Florence! Her Team mates, Archie riding Oliver Twist, Ruby riding Call Me Kev and Francesca riding Highmeadows Top Gun, were all a little too impressed by the gallop track and picked up time penalties, for going too fast – commonly called naughty points! Despite this, the Team finished on the podium, in second<\/strong> place.  Very well done.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

100cm \u2013 With Archie riding Oliver Twist and Francesca riding Highmeadows Top Gun, we \u2018borrowed\u2019 Hettie, a member of the Puckeridge Hunt branch riding Dun Paddy, in order to make a team of three. Once again, this team was on the speedy side, picking up \u2018naughty points\u2019 but they all jumped great cross-country rounds to WIN<\/strong> the class \u2013 top step of the podium!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

This victory capped of a super day, the organisers could not have been more friendly or helpful and the facilities and courses at Radley Green were fantastic.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

AREA 8 QUALIFIER – ARENA EVENTING, Spring Festival Qualifier Saturday 4th <\/sup>January 2025, Forest Edge<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

Arena Eventing is one of the most challenging disciplines to compete in, judging the pace to hit that \u2018optimum time\u2019 to avoid time penalties, without a stop watch, whilst also trying to jump clear, including the higher Joker last fence, is incredibly difficult!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

\n

The Area 8 Arena Eventing Qualifier is a prestigious event in its own right, plus the 17 N&T members competing also had the opportunity to qualify for the Barrier Animal Health Pony Club Spring Festival at Addington Equestrian, being held the week-end of 1st<\/sup> \u2013 2nd<\/sup> March.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

\n

Team Trainer, Katie Barrett, selected seven teams to compete in the four qualifying classes, 70cm, 80cm, 90cm and 100cm.  In this year\u2019s competition the teams were made up from three members, with all three scores to count.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

\n

In addition to the four qualifying classes, at the start of the day there were two non-qualifying classes, 60cm and 70cm. Lily H riding Wincham Golden Aztec in the 60cm was the highest placed N&T rider, finishing 3rd, and in the 70cm Ollie T riding Neebro Bridesmaid and Henry M riding Captain Nemo jumped two super double clears to finish 1st<\/sup> and 2nd<\/sup> respectively.  Very well done!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

70cm \u2013 <\/strong>One team and two Individuals competed:<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

Team Whippets<\/strong> \u2013 Ollie B riding Butleigh Flashman, Henry M riding Captain Nemo and Ollie T riding Neebro Bridesmaid.<\/em>  Both Henry and Ollie again jumped double clears, Henry was within the optimum time and finishing 4th<\/sup> secured his place going forward to the Spring Festival, with Ollie finishing in 6th<\/sup> place.  Another to jump a double clear, competing as an individual, was Isabella T riding Snow Flake.  Very well done to all our 70cm riders, for some this was their first Arena Eventing competition and you all showed great promise for the future!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

80cm \u2013<\/strong> N&T fielded three teams:<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

Team Terriers<\/strong> \u2013 Isabella T riding Snow Flake, Rosie C riding Marmalade and Mollie M riding My Nelly. <\/em> Rosie, who finished 4th<\/sup>, and Mollie both jumped lovely double clears resulting in 4th<\/sup> place overall for the team, and individual qualification for the Spring Festival for Rosie.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

Team Hounds<\/strong> \u2013 Florence M riding Clonleigh Pride, Georgia L-P riding Couvoisier and Frankie S riding Mr Shadow.<\/em>  With a double clear from Georgia and just one pole down for both Florence and Frankie, the team finished a very credible 7th.<\/sup><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

Team Beagles<\/strong> \u2013 Emily D riding Cymcownwy Princess, Archie T riding Oliver Twist and Eiji V riding Pebbly Principal Boy<\/em>.  Great double clears from all members of the team, with just a few time penalties (one rider went too fast, no naming!) the Team finished in second <\/strong>position! Emily was the highest placed N&T in 3rd<\/sup> place qualifying individually for the Spring Festival.  Very well done!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

Team Spaniels<\/strong> \u2013 Mollie M riding My Nelly, Francesca M riding High Meadows Topgun and Ruby W riding Call Me Kev.<\/em>  With just a couple of poles down for Mollie and double clears from Francesca and Ruby, the team finished in third<\/strong> place, beaten from second by the narrowest of margins! Ruby was the highest placed in 4th<\/sup> position, securing qualification as an individual.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\r\n

On a beautifully sunny autumn day we had 19 members of the N&TPC competing individually, of whom eight made up the two teams contesting the 80cm Gerry Webster Trophy and the 90\/100cm Wilkinson Sword Trophy.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In the 80cm Team was Erin A riding Kilberan Bridee, Mollie M riding My Nelly, Florence M on Captain Nemo and Ryan S on Yogi Boy.\u00a0 The best three scores counted – Florence finished on zero penalties and won<\/strong> the class individually and the whole Team finished on 9.2 time penalties only, securing an outstanding and decisive WIN<\/strong>!\u00a0 Very well done!<\/span><\/p>\n

Hopes were high for the Wilkinson Sword team of Francesca M riding Clonleigh Pride and Ruby W riding Call Me Kev in the 90cm, plus Georgie F on Kursk Root and Lily W on Libertie Lad in the 100cm.\u00a0 They all jumped super clears and it was so, SO near – but they were pipped by the Cambridgeshire into second place, by just two time penalties! \u00a0All rode beautifully and were a credit to their Branch, well done!<\/span><\/p>\n

Sadly, trainer Katie could not be there on this occasion and thanks go to our DC Tessa for her support on the day, and endless supply of strawberry laces! \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Pony Club Branches were invited to enter one team each in the two classes, 90cm and 100cm.  Each class was held in separate arenas – the 100cm class, with its 110 competitors, included two splashes into water utilizing the natural \u2018Dew Pond\u2019 in the Bladon Arena, whilst the 90cm class, with 162 competitors (who would have thought so many could take a day off school!) continued throughout the day in the Hensington Arena.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\r\n

Our 90cm Team involved Ruby W riding Call Me Kev, Phoebe H-M riding Tourmakeady Jack, George W on Lisbryan Mayo and Francesca M on Clonleigh Pride.\u00a0 In addition, Archie T riding Oliver Twist and Eiji V riding Pebbly Principal Boy joined with two members of the Enfield Chase to make up an Area 8 mixed team.<\/span><\/p>\n

All our N&T 90cm riders were amazing and rode really well, but it was the last fence of the course, the Joker, which caused the majority of the team faults, with only Phoebe jumping clear and within the time finishing highest of the N&T riders in 12th<\/sup> place.\u00a0 Ruby was within 100th<\/sup> of a second of the optimum time \u2013 but the dreaded Joker fell, as it did for George and Francesca too.\u00a0\u00a0 In the mixed team, Eiji jumped a double clear, with just 1.2 time penalties, and Archie jumped the dreaded Joker cleanly, but had one SJ down.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n\r\n <\/div>\r\n<\/section>\r\n\n\n\r\n

In the 100cm Team we had Evie W riding her mother\u2019s Friend Felix, Victoria H riding Attyrory Mo Joe, Lily W riding El Gaucho DHI and they were joined by Molly N from the Essex & Suffolk PC riding Summer Picnic, to make up a competitive team of four from Area 8.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jumping a double clear within the time, Evie finished individually in third<\/strong> place, whilst Lily jumped a double clear, but with 1.2 times penalties to finish in 12th<\/sup> position. Victoria jumped clear but had some satnav problems incurring time penalties, and Molly was very unlucky to have the last jump down, the Joker fence.\u00a0 All these consistently good rounds resulted in the team finishing in second place!<\/strong> (Or as l prefer, Reserve Champions!!)<\/span><\/p>\n

In the PC70cm we had a team of just three, Ollie B sadly having to withdraw due to injury, leaving Ollie T, Nancy M and Rosie O\u2019B to represent the N&TPC.  The Championship cross-country course took its toll and, on this occasion, no top ten placing, but a tremendous amount of experience gained. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

PC80 Eventing Championships<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

19 Teams contested the PC80 and the N&TPC were thrilled to have two teams qualified for the Championship and one individual, Jasper, riding Mister Tom, in an Area 8 combined team. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

The Red Team, all of whom were clear in the show jumping phase, of Georgina K riding Knockbridge Just Jimmy, Florence M riding Captain Nemo, Momoka V on Lettermuckroo Lucy and Eiji V on Pebbley Principal Boy, finished in a very credible 6th<\/sup> place overall, with Eiji being our highest placed N&T rider, being placed 4th<\/sup> in his section.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

The Blue Team of Francesca M on Mr Shadow, Mollie M on My Nelly, Emily D riding Cwmcownwyn Princess and Aoife O\u2019B riding Creeveroe Tommy, finished just two places behind in 8th<\/sup> position.  Highest placed N&T rider in her section was Aoife, who finished in 7th<\/sup> place.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

Four members qualified for the National PC Eventing Championships and we are very grateful to Fiona van Tuyll, John Adams and Katie Barrett, all of whom helped our riders prepare for and compete in this the Pony Club\u2019s most prestigious event of the year. The hard work and training which goes into merely gaining qualification to actually get to the Championships cannot be underestimated.  <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

In the 90cm our team of three, Ruby W riding Call Me Kev, Phoebe H-M  riding Tourmakeady Jack and Martha M riding Roscommon Flash, were sadly not in the ribbons on this occasion – but all had elated smiles on their faces when crossing the finishing line of the testing cross-country course. Very well done, you were all brilliant and great team players!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

We had just one individual in the 100cm, Lily W riding Libertie Lad, who finished on their dressage score to secure the third<\/strong> spot on the podium and be presented with a bucket full (literally!) of prizes by the PC Chairman.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

An exciting day in the Area 8 PC calendar, as our N&T riders have just this one chance to qualify for the Grassroots Regional Championships and National Pony Club Championships in Evening – no pressure then!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

PC80 Grassroots Regional Eventing Qualifier<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

\n

The N&TPC fielded two teams of four, the Blue Team of Emily D riding Cwmcownwyn Princess, Mollie M riding My Nelly, Aoife B on Creeveroe Tommy and Francesca M on Mr Shadow \u2013 the team finished on the podium in third<\/strong> position, securing their qualification. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

The Red Team of Georgina K riding Knockbridge Just Jimmy, Momoka V riding Lettermuckroo Lucy, Eiji V on Pebbley Principal Boy and Florence M on Captain Nemo, finished just two places below in 5th<\/sup> position, but this was enough for them to also gain qualification to the Regional Grassroots Eventing Championships.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

Whilst every member gained a few time penalties on the cross-country course, all our Team riders jumped stylish clear rounds in both the show jumping and cross-country, very impressive!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

Jasper O\u2019D, riding Mister Tom, was the ninth member of the N&T to compete in this class and also secured qualification by being selected as a member of a combined Area 8 Team.  So, a wonderful day for the N&T PC80 riders, all nine were off to the Regional Grassroots Eventing Championships being held at Aston-le-Walls on the 25th<\/sup> August!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

The one N&T team forward, of Martha M riding Roscommon Flash, Eliza O\u2019D riding Royale Lad, Phoebe H-M on Tourmakeady Jack and Ruby W riding Call Me Kev, really made an impression in this Area Qualifier, with Ruby and Phoebe finishing on their dressage scores resulting in two podium positions,\u00a0 first <\/strong>and second <\/strong>individually!\u00a0 These two fantastic results helped the team WIN! <\/strong>\u00a0Sadly, Eliza did not complete the cross-country after a misadventure with her air jacket, leaving a team of three to go forward to the National Pony Club Championships, being held in August at Offchurch Bury in Warwickshire.<\/span><\/p>\n

Thank you to all Members who competed at the Areas and Regional 80cm Qualifier at Isleham, representing our branch to the highest standards – and to the parents and guardians for the support given to all the N&T competitors.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

This year, the 70cm Qualifier for the Regional Grassroots Championships was run alongside the Gosling Cup competition, being held at Ickworth Park.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

The N&T fielded one team and two individuals for the 70cm Eventing, which consists of Dressage, Show Jumping and Cross Country. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

\n

The team of Nancy M riding Rupert The Bear, Ollie T riding Neebro Bridesmaid, Rosie O\u2019B riding Rolo and Henry M riding Fencers Etiquette secured Team qualification, with Rosie being the highest placed member finishing second in her section.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

Ollie B riding Walkham Merrylegs and Ryan riding Yogi Boy were our two Individual riders, with Ollie gaining qualification for the Championships as an individual.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

The Regional Grassroots Championships will be held at Aston-le-Walls on the 25th<\/sup> August.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

Gosling Cup, Ickworth Park, 16 June 2024<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

The Gosling Cup is a long-standing unique event open only to teams in the Southern Branches of Area 8. Each team consists of four riders, with all four scores to count.  Ponies must be 15.2hh and under, and riders on the day of the competition aged under 17, although one rider is allowed up to 25 years old.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

\n

The competition has traditionally consisted of five phases, but this year the Turnout phase had been dropped, leaving four phases \u2013 an individual Dressage Test, a Team Ride, Show Jumping and Cross Country, which included the timed opening and closing of a gate.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

\n

Instructor Sarah Burton very kindly took care of the two N&T Gosling Cup Teams entered, together with our DC Tessa, who had the task of getting everyone to their allotted arenas at the correct time.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

\n

Team \u2018A\u2019 was made up of two sets of siblings, Momoka V riding Lettermuckoo Lucy, Eiji V riding Pebbly Principal Boy, together with Zara K riding Hillocks Rising and Georgina K riding Knockbridge Just Jimmy. The team finished in 5th<\/sup> position, with Eiji being the highest placed individual in his section, in second place.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

BARRIER ANIMAL HEALTH PONY CLUB SPRING FESTIVAL, Arena UK<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

What unbelievable weather for two consecutive days in February! Despite the frosty morning starts, bobble hats were soon replaced with baseball caps and sunglasses \u2013 it stayed dry and the sun shone on all those competing in the Arena Eventing Championships.
The competition took place over two days, with the 70cm & 80cm classes on the Saturday and the 90cm and 100cm, in which the N&T did not have any riders, on the Sunday.
Members of the N&T Team competing on Saturday were:
Momoka Varian riding Lettermuckroo Lucy and Ollie Tunstill riding Neebro Bridesmaid in the 70cm, and Eiji Varian riding Pebbly Principal Boy and Georgina Knight riding Knockbridge Just Jimmy in the 80cm. Also in the 80cm class, qualifying as an Individual, Phoebe Horwood-Mead riding Glenayre Knight.
By the end of the day on Saturday, the N&T Team were in the lead! But, there were still the 90cm and 100cm classes on the Sunday – we had no Team riders, but other branches did!
All our members rode brilliantly \u2013 four of the five jumped double clears, two of which were also within the time (it\u2019s really hard to get \u2018spot on\u2019 that optimum time in Arena Eventing!) Two riders very nearly gained podium positions, Phoebe finishing fourth in the 80cm and Momoka fifth in the 70cm.
And the Team finished \u2026.. FOURTH out of 21 Teams!
Very well done to you all, you were great ambassadors for your Branch and Team Trainer Katie was extremely proud of you.
The Spring Festival is a great event to be part of, there is something for everyone within all the various disciplines and we would encourage all Members to try and qualify for next year and join in the fun!!

AREA 8 QUALIFIER – ARENA EVENTING, Spring Festival Qualifier<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

Saturday 20th January 2024, Easton College
Team Trainer, Katie Barrett, was able to select five teams to compete in the four qualifying classes, 70cm, 80cm, 90cm and 100cm, from the 12 N&T riders competing on the day who were trying to secure their place for the opportunity to compete at the Barrier Animal Health Pony Club Spring Festival at Arena UK in February.
In addition to the four qualifying classes, there was a non-qualifier 60cm at the start of the day and Ollie Tunstill riding Neebro Bridesmaid jumped a super double clear, within the time, to finish third.
70cm In the 70cm class Ollie again jumped a double clear, with just 1.6 time penalties, finishing in sixth position and qualifying for the Spring Festival as an Individual. Emily Davey riding Cymcownwy Princess jumped a double clear with just 1.2 time penalties finishing in fourth position, securing her Team member place for the Spring Festival. Rosie Coleman, riding Marmalade, despite jumping a lovely double clear, just missed out on qualifying picking up two time penalties, finishing in 7th position. Arena Eventing is one of the most challenging disciplines to compete in, judging the pace to hit that \u2018optimum time\u2019 to avoid time penalties, without a stopwatch, is incredibly difficult!
80cm With six N&T riders in this class, five jumped double clears within the optimum time! These were Emily Davey riding Cymcownwy Princess, Phoebe Horwood-Mead riding Glenayre Knight, Archie Tunstill riding Oliver Twist, Eiji Varian riding Pebbly Principal Boy, and Georgina Knight riding Knockbridge Just Jimmy. Momoka riding Lettermuckoo Lucy also jumped a lovely double clear, with just 0.8 time penalties. Qualifiers from this class were Georgina, who finished second, and Eiji, both securing their Team places, plus Phoebe who qualified as an Individual.
90cm Six N&T riders also in this class, with Phoebe finishing the highest of the N&T competitors in sixth position. Sadly, no qualifiers in the 90cm.
100cm Just one N&T rider, Lily Wittich, who rode two horses, Billy and Elmo. Unluckily they each had a pole down, Billy just missing out on qualifying by one place, finishing in fifth and eighth positon respectively.
So, to the Team results – From the 32 Teams competing on the day \u2013 the N&T Terriers Team WON!!! Very well done Emily, Momoka, Eiji and Georgina \u2013 you\u2019re off to the Spring Festival at Arena UK! Also, qualifying as Individuals \u2013 Ollie in the 70cm and Phoebe in the 80cm \u2013 huge congratulations to you all!
