A warm welcome to North Shropshire Hunt Branch of the Pony Club<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

Don’t forget to buy your Manual of Horsemanship<\/strong> it’s a complete basic guide to horsemanship and horse care, suitable for all ages and containing an amalgam of expert knowledge. Recently updated, this new edition has been brought up to date by members of the Training Committee of The Pony Club to include major updates to the Bridle, Bitting and Additional Saddlery, Shoeing and Worm Control chapters. With The Training Scale now included, along with an addition of an extensive glossary of terms, the chapters within the book have been re-arranged and grouped into three themed sections Part One: The Horse, Part Two: The Rider and Riding and Part Three: Saddlery and Lorinery, which makes reading the manual more logical. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\r\n\r\n

Tack & Turnout<\/strong><\/h5>\n

We like our members to have a high standard of tack and turnout at all<\/strong>\u00a0our events. See the\u00a0Dress Code for Rallies <\/strong><\/a>page for further information.<\/p>\n

Your hat will be checked and tagged at your first rally so it is easy for instructors to see that it is safe (the colour of tag changes as new standards are introduced). Body Protectors need to be of the current standard as do Whips and there is a second tag for those wearing spurs (check the rules below)no tag….no spurs allowed!<\/p>\n

Please<\/strong>\u00a0note<\/strong> that for cross country riding at all levels including Eventing, Tetrathlon, Horse Trials, Pony Racing and Mounted Games Competitions a jockey skull cap must be worn with no fixed peak. All North Shropshire Pony Club Sweatshirts,<\/a> Ties, and Blouson Jackets<\/a> etc. are available from Wainwright Screenprint<\/strong><\/a> and items can be bought and sold on the Facebook page.<\/p>\n

Jodhpurs\/Breeches should predominately be of a solid, single colour. Dark-coloured contrast seats are permitted. Striped or bold patterned\u00a0 jodhpurs are not permitted. However, white, cream or beige (with or without dark-coloured contrast seats) are preferred for all Area, Regional and Championships.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n\r\n <\/div>\r\n<\/section>\r\n\n\n\r\n

Your pony should have…<\/strong><\/p>\n

Clean tack that is in safe condition (it will be checked for safety eg stitching at each rally).<\/p>\n

Plain numnah either black, brown, blue or white\u00a0with piping of the same colour \u2013 no embroidery is permitted.<\/p>\n

If you need GRASS REINS<\/strong> the rules have been amended to allow the use of grass reins at rallies and competitions jumping up to 50cm and in walk & trot dressage tests. There is a diagram showing the correct use of grass reins here<\/a> and in the rule books<\/b><\/a>,<\/strong> but the general rule is that they must NOT be attached directly from the bit to the saddle. They must be fitted to allow and not restrict the normal head position of the pony and must be of a sufficient length to allow the pony to stretch over a small fence. They may be leather or a synthetic material, however if they are synthetic, there must be a leather (or other suitable material) as a break point.<\/p>\n

Humane girths are not permitted in any sport, whether during training or competition.\u00a0A humane girth is described as having non-independent straps that will loosen if one of the straps was to break.<\/strong><\/p>\n

There has been an update from HQ on the type of stirrups<\/strong> that are not allowed to be used in Show Jumping which also applies to all Working Rallies or where show jump style fences may be used. For the avoidance of doubt, at Pony Club events:
\n\u25b6 Stirrups which connect the boot and the stirrup magnetically are not allowed.
\n\u25b6 Interlocking boot soles and stirrup treads are not allowed.
\n\u25b6 Cage stirrups are not allowed. \u25b6 Composite matrix stirrup treads or similar are not allowed<\/p>\n

For Mounted Games Only:<\/strong>
\nBostock & Free Jump stirrups are not allowed at Pony Club Mounted Games events.
\nStirrups which include Metal\/ Metal type treads, including but not limited to those with protruding spikes and\/or perforated grip features are NOT Permitted.<\/p>\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n\r\n <\/div>\r\n<\/section>\r\n\n\n\r\n\r\n

Booking & Attending Rallies<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Please see the\u00a0Rally Booking and Calendar<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0page to see what events\/rallies we have planned.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

To book in to attend a rally, please enter online. \u00a0Remember that you must book rallies by the closing date. To obtain your ride time please see the website under\u00a0Times<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Ride groups for rallies are put together taking into account ability, experience and age of both rider and pony\/horse.\u00a0 We try wherever possible to meet special requests e.g. if you share trailer or lorry with someone or can only ride at a certain time. Please add this information when booking on.\u00a0 Please remember that a responsible adult must accompany and stay with you at the rally.<\/strong><\/p>\n

When at rallies\/Pony Club competitions etc. for safety no dogs are allowed and younger siblings must be supervised at all times. Please remember to pick up all droppings.<\/p>\n

North Shropshire Hunt Branch of Pony Club has Junior, Senior and 18+ Camps\u00a0 during the Summer.<\/strong><\/h5>\n

<\/p>\n

All ponies and horses must be fully vaccinated for Tetanus and Equine Flu before coming into Camp.<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

18+ Camp 2026 will be held at Berriewood<\/strong> from Friday 26th to Sunday 28th June.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

We are pleased to announce that Senior Camp 2026 will be held at Berriewood<\/strong> from\u00a0Monday 20th July to Friday 24th July.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Junior Camp 2025 will be held at Berriewood<\/strong> from Saturday 25th to Monday 27th July 2026.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Junior Camp is available to members who are 10 years of age and below whilst Senior Camp is for those members 10 years old and above (10 year olds have the choice to either attend junior or senior camp but can’t attend both!). 18+ Camp is for members aged 18 and above (and those aged 17 who have completed 6th form or equivalent).<\/p>\n
