Cottesmore PC show jumping 29th Dec Newbold Verdon

Remember to get your entries in for Cottesmore Pony Club Show Jumping Newbold Verdon on 29th December as part of your Christmas and New Year diary : Open to NonPC as well!

Come and blow the Christmas cobwebs away and qualify for the 2nd Round Barrier Animal Health  Winter Championships
Classes from 50cm – 100/105cm
Entry through Horse Events –

We would like to offer prospective Area competitors the opportunity to attend a 2 day competitors camp at RECTORY FARM on 30th and 31st May in half term.  This is being offered to those competing in Tetrathlon,  Show Jumping and Eventing.  It is possible that we may be able to accommodate those wanting to do Dressage only, with dressage and polework sessions only, but it will depend on groups and who applies, so this cannot be guaranteed. So we would like to hear from our Dressage riders too if they are interested.
This is initially being offered to those at Grassroots level (80cm) and above, but depending on the take up might be offered down to the new 70cm level as well.
Attendees would need to be able to confirm that they are available for their Area and Championship dates.
  • 4 ridden sessions – XC, show jumping and dressage.
  • unmounted mentoring and team building exercises
  • unmounted lectures
  • all catering – lunch and supper on day 1, breakfast and lunch on day 2
  • stabling for 1 night
The costs would be subject to final numbers but  we would hope to be in the region of £200.
Before we go any further planning this camp we need to know how many would be interested.  A registration point has been set up on Unity for you to let us know that this is something you would like us to put on for you.
So that we can secure the date we need a fast initial response to decide if there is enough interest.
Registration of interest will close on Sunday 20th November.

This year there are no preliminary rounds for the Dressage Area competition to qualify for the Barrier Spring Festival on 11/12th February 2023.
The Area 7 qualifier is being held at Solihull Riding Club on 7th January.  The classes are Novice, Intermediate and Open, so no grassroots and below.
Because this is now a direct entry to the Area competition, places have been allocated to each branch based on the number of members in that branch and we are lucky enough to have been allocated 10 places.  We are asking you to register if you would like to be considered to represent the Branch, but you must be available for the Championship date of 11th February.
Please register on Unity by 3rd December at the latest and we will then select our representatives from those registered.

New Winter Training Dates have been released!

Please check out the changes to the Winter Training and Tests Schedule.

Dates for the winter rides are as listed on the Tests and Training part of the website. All of these are at the Sports Horse Centre, Ryton .  The pre D (under 8’s), D+ and C+/B rides all start at 9am but as a trial this season we are starting the C rides at 12 noon and running into the afternoon. We are dropping the block booking this year and sessions can be booked monthly for £8 each. This is particularly to assist those who are unable to attend all of the sessions. Please book in each month and as always early booking much appreciated. Booking will close 7 days before each ride and it is unlikely that we will be able to accommodate late comers once arena bookings confirmed.

Members ride in their test level so those 8 and under who have not passed D test should ride in the Pre D, Members who have passed D or are aged 9-11 in the D+, members aged 12+ or those who have passed D+ in C and those who have passed C in the C+/B. If anyone is uncertain of which group their child should ride in please email me at or ring me on 07773273511. Please note I do not respond to voice mail, messenger, texts or fb posts as find it impossible to keep track of messages from too many routes.

We will be needing collecting ring stewards and pole pickers so if you can spare a couple of hours please contact Catherine Hicks on
