Achievement Badge

At OBH North, we offer more than just riding. Members are encouraged to explore a wide range of activities that build their knowledge and confidence. One of the most rewarding opportunities is working towards achievement badges. These allow riders to learn new skills in a structured and enjoyable way.

Each badge focuses on a specific topic. Some cover everyday pony care, such as grooming, feeding, and tack cleaning. Others go beyond the stable and include subjects like wildlife, farming, and first aid. As a result, members gain a well-rounded understanding of both ponies and the countryside.

Sessions are friendly, practical, and hands-on. Members often work in small groups, which creates a supportive and social environment. This format allows them to ask questions, share experiences, and learn from one another. It also helps build confidence through teamwork.

For younger members, Mini badges provide a simple and fun introduction to pony care. These are ideal for building early knowledge. Meanwhile, older or more experienced riders can take on more advanced topics. Over time, the skills gained also support progress through Pony Club tests.

In addition, earning badges gives members a sense of achievement. It helps mark their progress and keeps them motivated, especially during quieter riding periods. While not competitive, these sessions still offer clear goals and personal rewards.

Moreover, the learning extends beyond the arena. Achievement badge work teaches responsibility, observation, and care. These are essential qualities for any rider, regardless of age or ability.

At OBH North, we see badges as more than just awards. They’re an important part of helping members grow—not just as riders, but as confident, capable young people with a strong foundation in horsemanship.
