At OBH North Branch of the Pony Club, we support our members as they progress through their Efficiency Tests. These tests are a key part of Pony Club learning. They help riders build practical skills in both riding and pony care.
Members work through the levels, starting with E and D, and moving up to C+, B, and beyond. Each stage builds on the last. We provide both ridden and unmounted sessions to match the needs of each level. This balanced approach helps riders gain confidence and develop strong foundations.
Catherine, our Chief Instructor, leads all test preparation. She tracks each rider’s progress and makes sure they are ready before taking the assessment. Her practical and focused approach plays a big role in keeping our branch pass rate high.
Training sessions are small and supportive. Members receive clear guidance and regular feedback. This helps them improve steadily and feel confident on test day. We aim to make the process positive and rewarding.
To keep training accessible, we subsidise the cost through fundraising. Events held during the year help cover expenses. This allows us to support all members, no matter their level or experience.
Efficiency Tests offer more than just a qualification. They help riders set goals, track progress, and build responsibility. The skills gained also support future opportunities in coaching, volunteering, or further study in equine-related areas.
Our goal is to make sure every member is prepared, supported, and encouraged. The Efficiency Test system gives a clear path forward and recognises each step of a rider’s development.
