***NATIONAL PONY CLUB CHAMPS – SUCCESS***

This weekend we had 6 members travel all the way to the National Pony Club Championships at Cholmondeley Castle in Cheshire. Just getting there is a great achievement but all six of them were successful in getting placed and coming home with a rosette. This sort of achievement doesn’t come without an immense amount of hard work. Well done to all of you!

After what seemed to be a complete nightmare thanks to the weather with parking, stabling and arenas and a million emails 🙂 our OBHS girls did our branch proud!
The Mini team comprising of Erin, Katie, Alicia and Heather came 10th. The Novice team comprising of Charlotte, Two Sticks and the two Chiltern riders Hattie and Charlotte finished on 4 faults with Two Sticks jumping a fantastic double clear but sadly out of the placings and Mister Twinkletoes more like Mister Danglytoes 😉 The Intermediate team comprising of Lucy, Laura and Izzy didn’t have the best of rounds but still plenty of smiles. The Open team comprising of Jess, Mimo, Kathy and Isabel came 4th with Kathy jumping a double clear resulting in her achieving an amazing 2nd place as an individual. I hear Isabel hilariously fell off going round the corner after going through the finish 🙂
(90’s if you have any pics please message them)

***AREA EVENTING SUCCESS***

Well done to our teams at Area Evening. Our 80 team of Charlotte Hall, Lucy Brett-Chinnery, Charlotte Tuckwell, and Megan Vickers got team 3rd and qualified for Regional Championship in September at Keysoe. Individually they got: Charlotte Hall 3rd, Megan Vickers 4th, Charlotte Tuckwell 6th and Lucy Brett-Chinnery 8th. Laura Gavin who competed as an individual in the 80 came an amazing 2nd and she also qualifies for the Regional Championship at Keysoe in September. Our 1m team consisting of Alexa Iona-Smith, Mead Jenkins and Mimo Sandford came 4th overall with Alexa and Mead getting individual placings of 4th as well. Well done everybody!

***AREA SHOWJUMPING***
Thanks to all of our great volunteers at OBH South, Area Showjumping at Addington ran very smoothly and we have had many branches and competitors thank us – particularly for our ‘friendly and efficient’ stewards. We had two teams competing – Lucy, Georgia and Charlotte T in the Novice and Mead, Jess and Kathy in the Intermediate. As ever, all members gave of their best, but having to run as teams of three due to team withdrawals is always a tough ask. Special congratulations go to Charlotte Tuckwell who came 5th in the Novice (narrowly missing a Champs qualification) and Kathy Williams who came third in the Intermediate and qualified for the Championships.
***Area Dressage Success***

It was great to have so many members taking part in Area Dressage held at Thame Showground on the 2nd July with teams in Regional (Sienna, Katie, Heather, Georgia Two Sticks), Novice (Chelsea, Laura, Charlotte H), Intermediate (Isabel L, Alexa, Georgia V), Open (Mead, Kathy, Mimo, Charlotte T).

Special congratulations to the following members and teams with these placings:

In the Novice – Chelsea 2nd, Laura 3rd, Charlotte H 5th and the Novice team came 4th overall.

In the Intermediate, Georgia 6th and Alexa 7th.

In the Open, Mead 1st, Kathy 5th and the Open team came 3rd and qualified for the Championships.

We are very proud of all our members who took part, you were so well turned out and did a great job. We hope to see so many of you back next year.

***Area 12 Interbranch Showjumping Success***

Well done to our 11 branch members who represented OBH South at Area 12 Interbranch Showjumping at Middlegrove on Saturday 10th June.

Lucy, Isabel L and Laura came 2nd in the tack and turnout competition for the 90cm, Erin, Alicia, Katie and Heather came 3rd in the 60cm class and Cian, Charlotte H, Megan and Annabel came 2nd in the Regional Qualifier and have qualified for the South Regional Championships in the Autumn.

It was a really enjoyable day with some great jumping and team support.

***CONGRATULATIONS*** OBHS HUNTER TRIALS 2017

Well done to Katie Millward on Molly and Lucy Brett-Chinnery on Hazel who have won OBHS Hunter Trials challenge cups being the highest placed members in their respective classes.

***GREAT DAY AT THE DENGIE WINTER DRESSAGE CHAMPS***

OBHS were represented at the championships today by Georgia Vella and Kathy Williams. Both girls had used the Dengie series to ‘have a crack’ at the next level. Surpassing themselves in qualifying for today. Georgia in the Intermediate and Kathy the Open.

Georgia did a super test to finish just out of the placings. (Freckles had been superbly prepared by Sue as Georgia has been off games all week). Kathy did her best test yet on Felicity Norrie’s Flossie to pick up a 10th rosette. Particularly impressive results as it was both girls’ first go in a long arena and they only had two weeks to prepare.

Looking forward to Areas guys!

****SUCCESS FOR OBH SOUTH AT DENGIE REGIONALS****
OBH South were out in full force this Sunday representing the branch at Addington.
Georgia Voisey placed 5th in her showjumping class and Heather Jenkins placed 4th and 5th in hers.
Cian was 2nd in the 75 and jumped a lovely clear in the Dengie Debut first round and had an unfortunate miscommunication between horse and rider in the jump off.
Lucy Brett-Chinnery also jumped a great clear in the 85 to come 6th.
The 1m team consisting of Charly Edwards, Kathy Williams and Jess Fallon jumped for first place. Charly also won the class individually and came 4th on another horse.
In the Hickstead Qualifier, the team of Orla Morrin, Mimo Sandford, Kathy Williams and Charly Edwards all jumped fab rounds to come away with 2nd place and qualification for the finals at Hickstead in the summer. Charly also came an individual 4th. Jess also jumped in this class with a couple of unlucky poles.
In the dressage Georgia Vella pulled out a cracking test in the Dengie Novice Regionals to miss qualification for the finals by one place! However she also produced a brilliantly ridden test in the Intermediate which led to her qualifying for the Dengie Championships in a couple of weeks time!
Mimo Sandford and Charlotte Tuckwell also produced great tests in the Intermediate in a competitive class and only just missed out on the placings. Charlotte also did the Novice as a warm up and got over 73%.
Mead won the Intermediate and the Open with amazing scores and qualified for the champs. Kathy Williams came 6th in the Intermediate and then 3rd in the Open to also qualify.
Champs are at Addington on the 1st of April. Well done to everyone that competed, a fantastic day for OBHS and smiles all round.
Lastly, a special thanks to our Chief Instructor, Anna Streeter, who arrived for the first class and stayed all day until the last class in the evening to see all of our members through. We are lucky to have her!
