What is a rally?

We hold several different types of rallies during the year.

WINTER RALLIES – FLAT & SHOW JUMPING.

These are group lessons, held for 1 hour. They are held on either a Saturday or Sunday during the day. We group riders in similar abilities. All aspects of riding are covered, including correct position, improving your pony’s way of going by developing the rider’s confidence, in a fun and educational manner.

These rallies are normally held at Hill Farm, Ing, by kind permission for the Buckley family. We pay for the venue, so we make a charge for these rallies. All rallies are booked & paid for via the booking form, on the pony club website.

MOUNTED RALLIES

These rallies run from April to September 1 or 2 a month. They are normally held at Westmorland County Showground, Crooklands. They are usually on a Thursday evening from 6-8pm. This is a group lesson of similar ability riders. During this session, all aspects of riding will be covered, working through the criteria required for the Pony Club Efficiency tests and competition disciplines. They are fun, interactive sessions, to develop the riders’ knowledge and confidence. We cater for all levels of riders from lead reins upwards.

STABLE MANAGEMENT RALLIES

These rallies run from April to September 1 per month. They are held at various venues in the area which will be stated on the booking form. They normally run on a Thursday from 6.30pm-8pm. They are group sessions, covering all aspects of care for your pony. We follow the criteria required for the Pony Club efficiency tests. They are hands on practical sessions, on how to handle and care for your pony, correctly and safely. This training is so important as it will help you properly care for your pony particularly when you are at home, and keep you both safe and healthy.

CROSS COUNTRY TRAINING SESSIONS

We are very lucky to have our own cross-country course, just outside Kendal. We run training sessions there during the season. These are normally held on an evening. The dates are all on the events diary. To attend these sessions you need to be cantering confidently in an open space and able to jump about 60cm upwards. This is a group session and you work your way round the course, with a coach. They are great fun sessions, learning how to ride safely over fences in the correct rhythm and balance and how to ride and jump on undulating terrain.
