Parc Howard Branch of The Pony Club

Parc Howard Pony Club was established in 1993 by a group of parents who’s children had to travel a long distance to the nearest facility to take part in horse riding activities, they approached the local councillor and were successful in their quest for a permanent base in Cwmgors.

The grounds on Parc Howard road was home to the Gurwen stars rugby team pre world war 1 and later during world war 2 it was used as a practice fire range for young soldiers.

We are very lucky to have our own menage that our members have full use of for practice and lessons. Throughout the year we hold many competitions for Dressage and Show Jumping, during the summer we have fun clear round evenings which encourages novice or nervous riders as well as the more experienced.

Annually we host a very successful In Hand Show that our members help to organise and take part during the competition, 2014 was a particulary good year with most members taking the top results.

During the summer holidays we arrange a camp weekend where all members agree on a theme for fancy dress and with the help of parents and the committee prepare tasks and activities for 3 days.

It is through holding these events we raise money to help better our facility and make it more enjoyable for our members, a silent auction was organised for 2014 to raise money to repair and replace broken/old equipment and fencing which was very successful.
