Details on area events in general
Area events offer the chance to represent the branch at regional event (Area 19). As we are a very small Pony Club Branch there is a good chance that everyone who is capable and interested will be able to compete at Area level, unlike some larger branches where there is fierce competition for the honour, and only the very best are selected.
However there are rules about who is eligible – only active members of a branch and horses/ponies who have been to three rallies in the last 12 months are allowed to compete, some of which have to be in the current year. Also only those who have been members of the branch by 28 February of the current year are eligible – though there are special rules for anyone transferring from another branch.
It is the responsibility of the DC to enter on behalf of his/her branch and Kate has responsibility to only enter those who are capable of completing the course. For this reason entries from individuals, not signed by the DC, are not accepted for area competitions.
Once Nicola has a list of names of members who are interested in being in a team (or an individual) it maybe necessary to arrange selection trials if there are a lot of people and only a small number of places. Teams are selected by Nicola based on ability with help from the DC and the branch committee as necessary.
Once Selected there are team training sessions which do not count as rallies as they are not open to all branch members but are by invitation only for team members in order to improve our chances of success.
We are happy to consider EVERYONE, but you do need to come along to rallies so we can see if you are up to it.
