Senior Camp
This is an annual residential camp for member 11 years and above held at Somerford Park Farm.
Camp makes full use of the international facilities at Somerford Park Farm with activities include cross country practice, flat work, jumping, practical and theoretical horse care, fun evening activities and demonstrations. Riders camp in tents or horse boxes, catering and evening activities take place in the club rooms.
Each day includes two riding sessions, grooming, tack cleaning and stable management.
Senior Camp Packing List
What You Need
- Somewhere to sleep (Tent, Trailer, Horsebox)
- Bedding
- Warm pyjamas
- 2x Towels and shower shoes
- Toiletries, sun cream, any medication you are likely to require
- Torch
- Notebook, pencil
- Manual of Horsemanship
- Everyday Riding clothes
- Black, Navy, Beige Jodhpurs or breeches
- Riding tops (Long-sleeved required for XC)
- Pony Club sweatshirt
- Riding boots
- Riding Hat (skull cap for XC) in standard
- Body Protector in standard
- Hairnets
- Gloves
- Tack and Turnout clothes
- Show Gear (Jacket, Stock / Tie, Pony Club Badge…)
- Wellies / yard boots
- Trainers
- Everyday clothes for the evening (don’t forget jumpers, it can get cold at night)
- Waterproof coats, and trousers
- Cake to be share (please take to the kitchen on arrival)
If you are sleeping in a horsebox gas must be disconnected. Hookup must be purchased directly from Somerford Park.
For Your Horse or Pony
- Tack
- Grooming kit (with plaiting equipment for tack and turnout)
- Washing off gear
- Rugs
- Tack cleaning equipment
- Fly repellent
- Horse boots if worn
- Water Buckets
- Hard feed and feed bucket
- Haynets
- Mucking out equipment (don’t forget your brush to keep the yard clean)
- Stables are provided with 2 bales of shavings. You may bring extra or purchase extra onsite if required. Please bring cash to pay for any additional shavings you may require
- All horses and posies must have up to date Equine influenza vaccinations
