Triathlon is a non-equestrian winter activity in which the participants shoot with pistols (throw bean bags if under 8 years old), swim and run. There are several events over the winter months and in the summer the sport becomes Tetrathlon, Members new to this discipline are always welcome, no experience necessary, these events are an excellent way to socialise with other members of the Pony Club.
Under 8’s : Bean bag throw (instead of shooting), run 500m, swim for 2 minute
Tadpoles (8-10yo): Shoot (7m two handed static targets), run 1km, swim for 2 minutes
Minis (11 and under): Shoot (7m two handed static targets), run 1km, swim 2 minutes
Juniors (14 and under): Shoot (7m one handed turning targets), run 1.5km, swim for 3 minutes
Intermediate/Open: Shoot (10m one handed turning targets), run 1.5km (girls), 3km (boys), swim for 3 minutes (girls), 4 minutes (boys)
This event combines cross country riding with running, shooting and swimming. It is a sport suitable for all ages from our younger members to our senior members.
Competitions are held in the autumn/winter seasons starting with triathlon competitions (run, shoot, swim) and tetrathlons beginning in April running through until October with the area competitions in July.

West Hants Branch Pony Club is hosting their inter-branch triathlon competition on Thursday 28th December at Ringwood Health and Leisure, Parsonage Barn Lane, Ringwood, BH24 1PX by kind permission of Ringwood School and Ringwood Health and Leisure.
This is part of the Area 14 Winter League Competition and qualifier for the winter triathlon championships in 2024
