News 2014

October 2014

We entered several of our members in the team SJ at Hartpury on Saturday 4th October.  Our team in Class 4 did particularly well, coming 4th against a lot of other branches, there were also some individual placings;

Ella Kennedy – Class 1 – 5th

Class 4

Olivia Down (5th), Heather Wilson (8th), Iona Farrow-Wilton, Lowenna Davis – Tem 2nd

Class 5

Olivia Down (5th)

Well done to all those who took part; it was great to see you all there representing our Branch.

August 2014

A really big well done to Danielle McCormack coming 4th in Pony Club Novice Championship dressage on the 15th August.  It was well worth the very long journey to  Cheshire (6 hours in the lorry).  Against very stiff opposition from all around the Country, Danielle held her own, riding Victoria Wallace’s Heavenly High Jinks

29th July 2014 – Area 9 Dressage

Well done to Danielle McCormack for coming 2nd at the Area 9 Dressage! Against stiff opposition this is a brilliant result and she has now qualified to go to the Championships in Cheshire.

And a big well done to Livy Hoyland who went to the BYRDS Home Internationals during this week too and achieved the Bronze Medal!  Very well done Livy!

9th July 2014 – Barbury Team SJ

We entered 2 teams in the Team SJ at Barbury;  the Intermediate team were Shannon McCormack, Phoebe Keith, Laura Windel and Frances Lund.    The Novice team were Mollie Freeston, Issy Cole, Katie Hughes and Heather Wilson.   All our riders did us proud, but it was not our day to be in the placings!   Pheobe did the only clear for our teams of the day, but did not make it to the jump off.   Well done to all the girls (and parents) for being exceptional competitors!   And a HUGE THANK YOU to Rob Stevens for attending to walk the course, first course walk at 9am with the Intermediate team and second course walk at nearly 4pm with the Novice Team, and for warming up our riders prior to jumping.   It was a lovely occasion.  The SJ was in the TH White Arena and there was a lot going on all around, with flags and tents and spectators.

29th June 2014 – Team ODE @ West Wilts

2 teams attended for the ODE at West Wilts.   It was the first time out for a lot of the combinations who were:   Shannon McCormack, Ella Wych, Mollie Freeston, Heather Wilson, Iona Farrow-Wilton, Laura Windel and Olivia Down.  Phoebe was an individual competitor.

April 2014

Congratulations and Well Done to 3 of our members who passed their C test on the 16th April 2014 – Mollie Freestone, Gabby Taylor  and Emily Walter!  Well done girls and big thank you to Tanya Nevile for once again coaching our members to the required standards!

Another great result for Ridgeway – Phoebe Keith competed in the VWH Horse Trials at Calmsden as an individual (shame we didn’t have a team) and WON it !!!

She finished on her dressage score of 31 riding Rosie who was fantastic up against very competitive opposition.  Well done Phoebe!

It was the icing on the cake for an amazing fortnight starting with a WIN at Offchurch Bury  on her other horse Sam with a dressage score of 23 and double clear!   Whilst this event is not a Pony Club event, it is a great occasion and run over 2 days.   I will post details out of it for next year if we hear of it in time; it’s great fun to go along and camp overnight!

April 2014

WELL DONE to 2 of our members – Laura Windel and Phoebe Keith!

Laura did her B Test at Rectory Farm on the 9th April and passed both sections!

Phoebe completed and passed the riding section!

This is a major achievement as it is a very in depth test and is a testament to our members and their abilities.

A hughe thanks to Tanya for coaching them to this standard!

ANNUAL PARENTS MEETING – FRIDAY 28th February – 7pm @ Bushton Village Hall

What a great evening this was!    We had a talk from the Wiltshire Air Ambulance and presented them with a cheque for £300 raised from our Summer Show.   We then had a lighthearted talk from Tom McEwen about his progression through Pony Club to competing at Badminton!    Thank you to all those who came along and supported YOUR Branch!

RDA National Championships, 12, 13 & 14 July, Hartpury College, supported this year by the pony club.
The RDA National Championships returned this year as the biggest event of its kind for riders with disabilities; demonstrating over three days the very best of grassroots and world-class para-equestrianism. For the first time the event featured an RDA level Showjumping competition.
The event also marks the official launch of the RDA Tracker – a brand new tool to help assess the therapeutic benefits of riding (more information here).
The National Championships is RDA’s flagship event, featuring hundreds of competitors in a range of classes including Dressage, Countryside Challenge, Vaulting, Carriage Driving, Showjumping, Musical Ride, Musical Drive, Horse Care & Knowledge, Arts & Crafts and Best Turned Out.

Well done to Tori Wallace who competed for the first time at this level and achieved a 6th in her dressage test, 4th in Best Turned Out and 3rd in her collage that won the regional round. — with Tori Wallace.

Livy Hoyland was selected to represent the South West in the BYRDS Inter-Regional competition at Keysoe on 29/30 June, and finished in 2nd Individually and her team came 4th!   Well done Livy!

Well done to our team who took part in the Avon Vale ODE at West Wilts on Sunday 30th June.   Team 3rd!     The Team consisted of Phoebe who had a great dressage score, unfortunately one fence down SJ and clear XC (finished 7th Individually).   Laura Windel had an amazing dressage score too and clear SJ and XC and finished 5th Individually, closely followed by both Nadine (6th) and Frankie!

Laura Wall competed as an individual and came overall 2nd!   Rosie also competed individually, but it wasn’t her day this time.    There were 45 entries in this class and 22 teams so this is an amazing achievement.

Well done to all that took part, let’s hope that we can keep it going!
