Area’s & Regionals 2024

Image

Area’s 2024 at Auchlishie and the team rode their socks off.  First up was Jamie, Maisie & Alexa in the Show Jumping on the Friday.  They all went clear in the first round which was amazing and with only 3 in the team, there was no room for error as we had no score to drop.  They went off back in for round 2 and we had 2 clears and one with 9 faults to take 2nd place as a team in the PC70 section.

Individually, Alexa came out 3rd, Maisie 9th & Jamie 19th.  A great result considering it was Maisie & Jamie’s first areas competition.

Next up was the dressage team on the Saturday.  Jamie, Maisie and Sophie this time made up the dressage team.  Once again, they made us so proud gaining 2nd as the team!  None of them having competed at this level before and they smashed it and had the best fun together at the same time.  Memories made that will last them forever.

As individuals, Maisie was 2nd in her section, Jamie was 2nd in his section and Sophie was 4th in her section.  Fabulous results all round.

Day 3 and it is the ODE day.  First up was their dressage tests.  We had a team of 4 competing on day 3 and this was a first for being alone on a cross country course for some of our members.  Training with an instructor and being out their alone with no one for company other than jump judges who you don’t know are worlds apart.

Anyway, first up was dressage and off they went with big beaming smiles on and our star instructor Cath Aiton keeping them right in their warm up area and giving them all the tips they could ask for.

Jamie was 2nd in the dressage in section, Maisie was 2nd in dressage in section, Poppy was 3rd in dressage in her section and Sophie was 2nd in her section in the dressage.  We were off to a flying start and the kids were on cloud 9!

Next up is the show jumping and they were delighted again to be supported by Cath and her tips to keep them calm and set them up by walking the course and getting themselves prepared for what was coming.

Jamie and Poppy jump clear, Maisie incurs 1 pesky time fault and Sophie and Rocky have an unlucky pole.  They are still loving life and off getting ready for their XC phase.

A young team with very little experience eventing and they were all ready to go.  The great thing about pony club areas is that even if it isn’t your day, it is appreciated that you have spent a lot of money to get there so they let you continue on the course as long as you aren’t in the way or causing a distraction to others.  Jamie and Maisie were eliminated due to some stops on the course but they both completed and for their first season out and their first ever time alone on the XC course, they both done amazing.

Sophie and Rocky finished on 60 penalties in 4th position in section.  Poppy & Dorothy finished on 80 penalties finishing 3rd in section and qualifying for the regional championships!

A brilliant first area’s for the team and one they should be very proud off.  They rode their socks off, supported and encouraged each other and made the best memories together.

Next up was regionals and off went Sophie & Poppy to compete as individuals.  Sophie went down on the Saturday and competed in the Dressage championships where she placed 6th in section with a score of 63.2%  A great achievement for both Sophie & Rocky.  He got rewarded well for his efforts!

Next up was the ODE day.  Sophie had a great dressage score of 37.4 putting her in 4th position in section, she then went on and jumped with just one rolled pole before going off XC where she picked up 40 penalties putting her in 9th position in section.  A fabulous result.

Poppy started off with a strong dressage score of 33 before jumping a clear show jumping round.  She then went off and flew round the XC course with no further penalties to add putting her in 2nd place within section.

These 2 really rode their socks off and also had the best time.  We are hugely proud of all of the team and individual riders.

All that is left to say is a massive thanks to Cath for taking the time out of her schedule to go and support the team at areas.  This was hugely appreciated by everyone involved in the team and the kids just thought the world of Cath for doing this for them.

Thank you also to all the mums and dads for taking the time out to go and support the kids in making their dreams come true within Pony Club.  Without you giving up your weekends, we wouldn’t have teams or individuals competing.

And lastly, well done to all our members who competed. I am hugely proud of you all.
