WELCOME
Dear all

It is with great sadness and shock that I write to confirm the tragic death of Clare Bromfield, wife of Christopher Bromfield, our Chairman of The Pony Club. Clare was involved in a riding accident on 26th August 2019, and unfortunately did not regain consciousness.

Clare first became involved as a parent helper at the Avon Vale Hunt Branch of the Pony Club, 28 years ago.  She demonstrated such enthusiasm and commitment to the Branch that she was subsequently promoted to District Commissioner in 2004, a position she held until she retired earlier this year.  She played a major part in the success of the Branch, which became the biggest in the UK, with 450 members while she was in charge.

Clare dedicated her time to inspiring, coaching and encouraging young people in all aspects of their equine pathways and amazed everyone with her devotion to helping those who competed and represented Avon Vale at Areas and National competitions.  Her fantastic leadership and organisation skills resulted in some superb results for her members.

Committee Member, Kirsty Allen said of Clare, “The growth of the Branch is due to her boundless energy for welcoming new members, whatever their age, experience or background.”

It is testament to her popularity with young riders that in April 2019 they turned out in force to attend a surprise party to celebrate her retirement, where her enormous contribution to the Pony Club was recognised and she was honoured with a Cubitt Award.

Even though Clare retired from her position of DC at the Pony Club, she planned to continue being involved with the Branch she loved so much as a volunteer.

Clare will be very much missed by all past and present members, their parents and everyone who had the opportunity to work with her.

Our deepest sympathy and thoughts go to Christopher, her children and grandchildren.

Kind regards,

Marcus Capel
Acting Chief Executive

Hat Rule 2019

The BETA 2018 Body Protector Standard has been approved.

The new standard, offering three levels of protection, is due for release to the market on 1 October. It is a bright blue logo on a black background.  Pony Club will continue to require Level 3 for cross country.

The purple label 2009 BETA level 3, whilst eventually no longer being sold (only for sale until current stock runs out) will be accepted for use in competition by BE/BRC and PC for the next 6 years.  So if people have bought a new 2009 purple level 3 label, they should not be told they need a new 2018 one.

The success of the website relies in part upon input from members, so please do e-mail photographs and reports of Pony Club activities that you & your Pony Club friends have been up to, whether it be a competition, a rally, a fun ride or a day’s hunting.

If you hear of an event being run by another Branch that RA members might be interested in, let us know so that we can tell others via the website.

Please remember this is YOUR Pony Club, we would love to hear your ideas for improving this site
