Introduction to Pony Club Polo:<\/strong><\/h5>\n
Playing Pony Club polo and being part of a polo team is amazing fun, experiencing the highs of lows of competition, horsemanship and camaraderie, friends are made for life in an environment that many say is one of the highlights of their childhood. The sport is accessible as you can play with one pony all the way up to 21, or compete more seriously with multiple ponies.<\/h5>\n
The Royal Artillery Pony Club is one of the busiest polo branches, arranging practices and tournaments at its home club, Tedworth Park Polo Club, in Tidworth, with many players and teams competing at all levels. The branch has won all of the sections multiple times over the last 30 years!<\/h5>\n
The main Pony Club polo season takes place in July and the start of August ending with The Pony Club Polo Championships, which are held at the prestigious Cowdray Park Polo Club, West Sussex.<\/h5>\n
Any teams can attend friendly tournaments to practise, have fun and work towards qualifiers which run just before the Championships.<\/h5>\n
Jorrocks teams (6 \u2013 under 11) must take part in TWO qualifying tournaments to be able to play at the Championships, all other age groups must go to THREE qualifying tournaments to be able to go to the Championships.<\/h5>\n
The Championships take place in August and is a full weekend of polo for all ages!<\/h5>\n

A player\u2019s age is taken from 1 January in each year<\/h5>\n
Jorrocks<\/strong><\/h5>\n
Players must be 6 years and over and under 11 years old riding a Fluffy 13.2hh and under. Maximum<\/h5>\n
handicap is -2.<\/h5>\n
Handley Cross<\/strong><\/h5>\n
Players must be 11 and over and under 14 years old riding a Fluffy 14.2hh and under.<\/h5>\n
Jorrocks on Polo Ponies (JOPPs)<\/strong><\/h5>\n
Players must be 6 years and over and under 11 years old. Maximum handicap is -2.<\/h5>\n
Surtees<\/strong><\/h5>\n
Players must be 11 and over and under 15 years old. Maximum handicap is -1.<\/h5>\n
Loriner<\/strong><\/h5>\n
Players must be 15 years and over and under 21 years. Maximum handicap is 0.<\/h5>\n
Langford<\/strong><\/h5>\n
Players must be under 21 years of age. Matches are played in 2 x 2 chukka format.<\/h5>\n
Hipwood<\/strong><\/h5>\n
Players must be 11 years and over and under 14 years old. Maximum handicap is 0 goal (only one<\/h5>\n
allowed per team). Matches are a 3 chukka format.<\/h5>\n
Rocksavage<\/strong><\/h5>\n
Players must 11 years and over and under 17 years old. Maximum handicap is 1 goal (only one<\/h5>\n
allowed per team). Matches are a 4 chukka format.<\/h5>\n
Finally there is<\/h5>\n
Gannon<\/strong><\/h5>\n
This is the highest level and most prestigious section of the Pony Club Championships. Players must<\/h5>\n
be under 21. Minimum handicap is -1. Matches are 4 chukkas.<\/h5>\n

What is Polo?<\/h5>\n
Polo is like hockey on horseback! You have to hit the ball into the goal with your polo stick. Each game is played between two teams with four players on each side.<\/h5>\n
The game is divided into short, six minutes parts known as Chukkas.<\/h5>\n
The more experienced you are, the more chukkas there are in a game.<\/h5>\n
