For National Pony Club updates and information please go to
Arthur Myddelton winning his race at Haydock Pony Club Race Day.
First race was at Cheltenham where he came Second. Following in his brother, Harry’s, footsteps.
Well done to Hugo and Little Bull who finished mid div, 1mile 2furlongs, carrying 2 stone of lead (to make up the minimum weight of 9st) in the 148cm race. at Aintree. Carl Llewellyn walked the course with them and they had full race analytics afterwards. As it was before a proper meeting, they had the professional team starting them. Very exciting!
If any member is interested in pony racing Tessa Dollar or Emma Middleton would be pleased to give some advice.

Pony Racing

This is a way for racing fans to get a taste of what real horse racing is like on a smaller scale!  Champion Headwear Pony Club Race Days are run up and down the country.

You must be a Pony Club Member and be between the ages of 9 and 15 years old (on 1st January) and have a pony 14.2hh (148cm) and under.

All the riders wear silks (or your cross country colours), weigh in, weigh out and parade in The Paddock before the race!

There are Novice races for beginners right through to Open races for the more experienced.

There is lots more information on the Pony Club Web site, including dates of up and coming Training and Race days.  Dates to note:

Format Of The Day
The days are open to experienced and non-experienced Members and they will be put in appropriate groups.  The age limit for actually racing is 9-15 years on 1st January 2017. The day will start at 9.30 and there will be sessions with a jockey coach, a fitness expert and then on the pony, a session in the school followed by going up the gallops.

Members and their pony will be assessed as to their ability, confidence & competence and at the end of the day will be informed by the Assessor as to whether they have passed. If this is the case then they will be able to use this qualification to enter a Pony Club Race Day and be eligible to take part in Pony Racing Authority (PRA) races staged in 2017.
